I would love to try and play around with it for future adventures.. below are my dumps and subsequent downgrade files ..crossing my fingers and hoping for a miracle to happen.
As I said, very unlikely. There's nothing you could restore from these dumps.

so it's permanently dead? there's no way to bring it back? even if it's long and drawn out... I wonder how sony does this in the factory.. I highly doubt they preprogram the flash chip. ahh who knows I'm reaching now.. this really sucks..

that is understood so the chips are all soldered on and then they flash the chip once the board has gone through it's soldering process.

which begs the question do they have a way of getting this "console specific data" from the board before flashing? do they have this stuff recorded somewhere? is it generated while the flashing is occurring? etc etc... that's what I'm wondering.. you would think they would have a way of getting the console to boot back up if it occurred a hard brick like during a power outage when updating the firmware.. something along those lines.. and you would also think they would try and hide this data on the harddrive as a means of recovery if it indeed did brick on the customer during a power outage.

im just throwing ideas im having out there. there has to be a way of getting it to boot again.. just going to take someone with lots more knowledge than me to figure it out.

my guess is IBM gives them the hardware key that they generated for the CELL (per_console_key_0)

if we knew a way to get that key, we wouldn't be in the key fiasco we are in now.

plus it's their console, im sure they have tools and such to get the key. we just haven't documented it yet (if ever).

but really all of this is out of the scope of this thread.

Hey guys,

I seem to be having some problems. Im currently using norway 0.4 beta12. I have a ps3 with the Samsung K8Q2815UQB-PI4B nor. This unit is a rsod unit, but works after a couple of restarts. I currently finished soldering up my teensy and everything went well so far. I just made 5 dumps. All with the same md5 and size. Chip manufacture and type is unknown, only when I release, it shows up as proper info. Norpatch says unknown all the way around. So after dumping, I released and the ps3 will not boot. Disconnected tristate and loaded judges recomendation on teensy so it doesnt interfere. Ps3 still doesnt boot. I have NOT flashed anything to the ps3, just DUMPED it. How do I get it to boot properly, because it was working before norway took over.. lol I have inlcuded a copy of one of my dump files. Let me know if its good or bad. Im not sure.

md5 and filesize is not a way to verify a dump ever

When I follow the guide you sent me, it is completed without errors but in the EXT folder it creates, I only have bootloader_0. No eid, metldr or anything else.. but it completes with no errors. When I check the HXD and compare with wiki, it looks fine but I dont know if the nor doesnt match in some area because the unit is a RSOD. Even if its a RSOD it should still have the console info, because it did work after a restart. My main problem is the ps3 wont release to boot again. I'd like to update to 3.72 so I can dump that flash also and compare.

well given this.. it seems you may have a solder bridge or something else went very wrong.. if you did not initiate an erase command or a write command then for all intensive purposes nothing in the console was changed which leads to a user error or something else failed at a very inopportune time. once the trisate line is disconnected there is nothing the "console" needs to release.

check for solder bridges very carefully . good luck.

Send a message via ICQ to Dudshl
If I replace consoles NOR chip (any manufacturer, Samsung or Spansion) with S29GL128N90TFIR1 - will console works correctly? (I flash new chip with original dump before replace)
Can Sony in future updates brick my console because of replaced chip?
