As for the Wii U, Nintendo laid an egg. There is no way it is an eighth gen console when it's hardware is most similar to the current generation and its capabilities are about the same, eighth gen in name only. Sounds like a Dreamcast scenario is coming up real quick for them.

You bought 3 PS3s, that's a clear win for Sony already. You seem to not be thinking in a measurable product like money, but some imaginary "we hacked it we won"-idea.

Sony released the ps3, all was good.
Sony took away OtherOS, and we started the war.
Since then, they have only been making more and more money and suing more and more people and winning, flawlessly, to add.
Okay, I'll give you that Sony has not "won", since the war is still on and they are winning more and more each day another weak person gives up his morals and buys another Sony product.

EDIT: It seems some people still think a jailbreak now will change anything, it's too late, Sony already sued and won, sold and won, what happens from now on and out is pretty much moot as Sony has gotten what they wanted from this, they made jailbreaking illegal, made it okay to remove features from their console, and keep raking in more and more money. Again, a HEN doesn't change anything except maybe makes more people purchase a PS3 to have Sony win some more.

6.20 being hacked on the PSP sure didn't do anything for that scene, did it? It didn't bring about higher FW hacks, nope, it sure didn't do a thing.

You must not have seen the PSP scene. It had it's downs not too long ago and it came back to power, what makes you think that the PS3 cannot come back? I mean it hasn't even been a year since 3.55 CFW's launched.

You seem to misunderstand completely. This thread (or at least the last many posts) is NOT about if the scene is dead or not.

But about who WON, who profitted from this fight. Those are 2 seperate things.

anyone owning an iphone/ipod/ipad are just as guilty. apple sue medical companies for selling medical eye pads ffs and dont get me started on microsoft for their shoddy security (or lack of) but the xbox is still high on my recommendation list

doubtful. scene sites are alive still and whether you like it or not. people are still working on scene progression.
have you sold your ps3? have you updated and accepted defeat? (if not then they havent won)
they will only win if everyone stops work, updates and never thinks about hacking it again

and anyway, why not enjoy a machine? not buying a ps3 wont hurt them at all. we are a minority. and im pretty sure that many who have ps3 on new ofw would still love the option of homebrew

what is worse way to harm a multibillion dollar corporation, buying something and using it in a way that pisses them off or giving them what they want and not ****ing with it?

Oh, but they're not. They never are separate. Hacks drive console sales. If you think of it in terms of profits, the manufacturer WILL ALWAYS WIN. Once a console gets hacked, there will always be people running to buy it.

The Scene never profits, unless you count scumbags like TB. So they will always lose if we go by your thinking.

As I see it, the war is more like who wins in the end, has the manufacturer succeeded in stopping the hackers or have the hackers broken down the walls built by the manufacturer so much that the manufacturer has nothing left to do?

While I disagree with some things mentioned, I now see you have another criteria for a "win", which is far far from what Sony or anyone counting in either money, morals, fairness, etc., would have as a criteria for a "win", so to further this discussion would be meaningless.

If you wish to believe you have won while Sony is clapping their hands, fair enough, and good luck in your further pursuit.
