well yeah... so the bad news...

QA flag flag does one thing which is, yeah you guessed it, it disable the hashes (exactly what the patch does) that is why you are able to install the 3.15 ofw, now try this disable QA flag, and try to update to another OFW, yup brick the thing is, while QA flag is active the hashes are bypassed, you deactivate it and the checks come into play again...

I'll try bricking my PS3 by updating like you suggested just to see if I can recover it.

I guess my question is: is this safe for people to use to get Cobra or TB fw running on a 3.56+ downgraded PS3? Or should it be avoided?

the tb brick i mention, can't be fixed... you will have to buy another...

as for the console brick, you better not do it, take my word for it, why take unnecessary risks...

Don't worry, I don't own a TB, just a Cobra!

As for the PS3, I have dumps of 9 different firmwares from it, only paid $20 for it and won't be a loss if I can't recover it. And have a few more PS3's.

It's just to experiment.

The syscon didnt get a reset, but the QA flag auto patch the lvl 1 of every fw u install. ( that's why you still read "insert a usb drive whit 4.00 fw or above" after a format)
Btw this is usefull, i suggest a mod to merge @v8s10 posts + video and frontpage it.
Or at least move those post on tutorial section.

And... @v8s10 you spoofed rogero mfw whit mfwbuilder or u just downloaded it from a site?I'm asking too much if i ask you to upload the .pup ? :x

Don't you mean it's safe until the QA flag is NOT active?

I got the Rogero v2 4.00 spoofed pup from tortuga cove. As far as I know it was done by Rogero and is still available for download there.
