hay guys well here im am wanting to get back to OFW to play BF online i just want some things straight first : i simply put Fw 3.55 on a storage device put in PS and im back on OFW right ??

ive heard i need to format the hdd for safety why exactly ?? ( what is the safety in that ! )

and lastly and this way off-topic : does an online pass work on just 1 ps or 2 i know just 1 !

Yea you just put fw 3.55 under PS3/UPDATE/ on your USB device and install through xmb or recovery. Personally i wouldn't do a format just cuz it's a hassle. It just to stay on the safe side but nothing's really gonna happen. It's your choice though.

So in order to play online you will have to uninstall any spoofs you may have. Then install OFW 3.55 then to OFW 4.00 just to be safe as some have had problems going straight from CFW 3.55 to OFW 4.00.

The reason why you SHOULD format the HDD is so that all homebrew, applications, games, backups, etc are erased from the PS3. Sony can 'apparently' track some of the software on your PS3 and this is how people may get banned even if they can't use it.

In regards to the online pass, I think it works on every account you have it activated on. Now Sony has reduced the number of activations you can do on your online pass so you can now only activate the product on 2 'active' accounts.
So if your PS3 has 3 accounts (lets assume brother, sister, other) then you can only activate the online pass on two of those. I'm not sure about this so correct me if i'm wrong.

thx guys but another question ! can i back my Trophies to any device and formate the Hdd then put them back on the Ps !
