I just got this test PS3 that's on firmware 3.01. It says I need to upgrade to firmware 3.50 to play newer games. Where do I find this firmware? From what I've read 3.41and 3.55 are the preferred firmware to be on. I don't know how to flash but want to learn. Can someone tell me some options that I have? One more question, would it hurt or change anything if I put a harddrive from a stock Ps3 into this one?

All the PS3 firmwares are in the "downloads" section of this site. Once you are one 3.55, check out ReBug firmware.

the ps3 will make you format it. there is a tutorial in my signature, and if you look in the tut section then you will find a tut i wrote to install rebug.

Thank you so much! I guess I should have been more clearer about the hard drive I was referring to. It's the original from my stock 60 gig Ps3. I cloned it onto a 300 gig harddrive. Would it still make me format it if I put it in the test Ps3?

the hdd image is locked to the specific ps3 it was from originally
