I have to dissagree on that one. It's because they just want to have fun as a group and sorry, but the Wii still is the best for that regardless of whether the other consoles now have controllers that are better than the Wii's.

People wanting to play a serious game think of XBOX or PS3, people thinking of getting friends round for a few beers and some light hearted fun think of Wii, or at least virtually all the people I know and talk to do

EDIT The XBOX is starting to gain speed with the kinect, but almost all the time it is as a replacement for the Wii as a fun group console showing again that to most, the Wii was and still is seen as fun when you have friends round.

this is going to sound dumb but friut ninja kinect is the best game ever, its really hard to not make ninja sounds while playing. also 3d ultra mini golf with the move sh!ts on any other golf game i have played.
tbh i hope the whole motion/kinect controller craze dies as nothing compares to a regular controller i think the ps3 did it best with its controller it just adds to the experience its not centered around it. the wiimote killed the wii for me, they should have had that be a separate controller or offered a normal one that does not need to be plugged into it to be used. i think the wii-u controller looks interesting but i dont want to hold a tablet in my hands to play a game, i do like the fact u can play games on the controller itself without tv though(even though i dont use a tv for playing).

"Wii is the best"? Seriously? Wii is a joke console for joke gamers. Just like Kinect and Move are joke accessories. It just looks cool in commercials and it helps to sell consoles to people who never play games (and their grandmothers). Yes, it's fun jumping and swinging your hands in front of your TV but that gets old very fast because you can only play so many rounds of boxing/bowling/fishing/*ing. So, the party ends, your friends go home and then you're in trouble since there's only a few "serious" games for Wii out there.

If I had to defend it I guess it's a great thing if you're overweight (so you burn some calories while you play) but besides that I really don't see the point. Questionable "revolution" + lack of real games + system that was outdated on release = "the best console"? Really?

no i wouldnt say its the best console by any means.

i would say its the best console for party play tho
theres nothing like getting smashed and playing wii bowling and tiger woods.

it was never supposed to be a serious console, i dont know why people compare it as such

You're right about that and I agree with you but as I said, the party has to end sometimes. I understand why children find it interesting, grandparents or people who have friends over all the time (students?) but I'm none of those types, when I get home from work I'm not really in a "party mood" and instead of jumping around in front of the TV I just want to kick back, get comfortable and play a "real" game for a while (like MGS, Uncharted or whatever), that's why the Wii was never an option for me.

With the Wii U, Nintendo is shifting the target audience to include the hardcore gamer again. With the last console they alienated the hardcore. There's a problem with this as the Wii U will be outdated upon release. It will be closer to the current gen PS3 than to any of the hardcore established brands next gens. They are releasing features on it that should have been available in the original Wii.

As for the screen on the controller, not a new idea... Dreamcast anyone?
