Yes but Sony/Microsoft and Wii don't have the same target markets they have seriously took a completelly other road on the gaming scene. They are out of the competition because thay are not part of it anymore, they created a new kind of scene that nor Sony or Microsoft is interested nor ever going to be interest in, which is the reason why Nintendo consoles are not considered anymore competitors to Sony or Microsoft, the same reason why 3DS is not considered a competitor to PSVita and never will. This is why more and more people don't make salles or hardware comparisons between these consoles, it's like comparing a tablet with an android phone.

It is only selling the most because it appeals to the broadest audience and because it's affordable, not because people don't care about power; people care about their wallets, and their children. The Wii is a cheap, "up-to-date" toy.

Most of the games I play are considered "niche" or "hardcore", but that hasn't stopped me from finding games on the Wii that meet my needs. There are a lot of "serious" gamers out there who have that one Nintendo title that they need to play every generation. For some, it's Smash Bros. For others, it's Zelda, Mario, Metroid (Other M was garbage), etc. I've always seen potential in motion controls, but I bought the Wii for Zelda and Zelda alone. It certainly helped that, at least every year, 1-3 games came out on the system capable of meeting my needs. Funny thing is, after playing Skyward Sword, it's not even my favorite Wii game. That title, and my favorite game of this console cycle, goes to a certain rpg which has yet to be released in North America.
I love my PS3. I have a gaming PC. There's no question the 360 and PS3 each have a vastly superior library to that of the Wii, but I've never regretted a system purchase. You don't have to be a child or grandparent to enjoy the Wii. On the topic of the PS4, I'll buy it if and when a game I really want to play gets released. As for the Wii U, I'll buy it when Zelda comes out or it gets a must have exclusive. Cutting edge graphics are a great, but my console purchases always boil down to individual games. "Michael" - PS3 Long Live Play -- Full Length - YouTube I own a 360 and I never considered buying any Halo title even for a second. Outdoing Master Chief isn't too hard because he's as original and interesting as Pac Man. That's exactly why the Killzone franchise exists on Playstation and it does the job perfectly - it's just as boring and uninspired as Halo. Also, it's a joke to say Halo has "carried the xbox brand", some Halo games were ported to PC and as I recall nobody was too thrilled about it. Why was that? Was something lost in the process of porting the games to another platform or did people just realize they aren't as great as fanboys were saying while they were exclusive? Besides, if Halo and Killzone were so great we wouldn't have other games in the genre that sell way better than Halo and Killzone on their respective platforms (COD and Battlefield, for example). |

xbox
pros = better coding for gameplay and infinitely better online service cons = lack of hardware reliability in certain models , pay for online (the RROD reputation has left a lasting impression) exclusive = i ****ing love the halo games and i dont care who knows it ps3 pros = more reliable and free online cons = poor performance considering the specs (mainly multiplatform games that should shine) exclusive = uncharted pwns wii pros = all generations can pick up and play and have fun, small, quiet, reliable cons = not for the serious gamer (never claimed to be) exclusive = mario galaxy is awesome and IMO tiger woods is better to play on wii than with other systems despite the gfx they all pwn in their own way and the points i state above are my personal reason for liking each system if the next generation can improve/remove the cons then i "may" stick to the one system but lets face it, thats unlikely to happen so ill end up getting all 3 as usual. liking a system has absolutely nothing to do with fanboyism. liking multiple consoles is proof of that. the people who slate the other consoles are obvious fanboys of their chosen system, even if they dont admit it as they are closed off from peoples reasoning for liking them. take PC fanboys for example. they put a lot of energy into slating consoles and comparing them to pc. why? console owners dont care. leave us be lol. the same goes for people slating the other console owners.

You obviously didn't read the rest of my post.
Sony are currently in LAST place this gen...think about that for a second, the fact they've allowed not only Nintendo but Microsoft to surpass them after the PS1/PS2 days is a disgrace to be honest so your point holds no water.

I don't understand the need to twist my own words and even call me a fool when I was pretty clear. Master Chief can only seem interesting to a VERY specific range of people and that's about it. Am I wrong? Also, the character seems so generic that even the moustache sporting plumber has way more personality. Am I wrong? Besides, I've played the two Halo ports on PC at the time they were out and I really wasn't impressed. Ratings around the net also proove that I'm not the only one who failed to see what all the fuss was about.
So let's see: Metal Gear, Uncharted, God of War, LBP, Infamous, Heavy Rain and others - all great, memorable games (exclusive too) with convincing and memorable characters and you say "Sony needs a mascot"? Get serious, man. Also note I'm not even mentioning shooters like Resistance and Killzone and their respective characters because I find them as interesting as Master Chief. And Duke Nukem. And that guy from Call of duty. And that chick from Portal. All deep, interesting and convincing characters, right? Last edited by Zara; 01-08-2012 at 09:30 AM. Reason: typo |

Whatever... Nothing changes the fact that PlayStation 3 is the best current generation console. Even though it sold a bit less than Xbox 360 or much less than Wii.
