no, the sdk will not decrypt eboots. the sdk can, however, decrypt discs, but not the files on the disc.

For christs sake at least the guy is trying, instead of grinding someone down with critical posts why not try a bit of encouragement and point him in the right direction.

Now I'm sorry if I'm wrong here but I thought the point of forums like these are for all sceners from experienced devs to newbies to come together to discuss ideas, findings, news etc to make the scene better!

There are too many people out there with the "i know better than you" attitude & instead of sharing knowledge just shoot people down.

the information is easily accessible and out there, if one was seriously interested in finding methods to do things they would go out and educate themselves, im sorry but some dude trying to mess with sony's sdk to get code running on retail ps3's screams "noob" to me.

all the info to at least push you in the right direction (not the using official sony game developer tools because they wont help us at all on the retail front) is on ps3devwiki.

I'll be honest, i would literally applaud serious efforts of people trying to advance the scene, but if you have no idea how to reverse an spu or ppc binary, and you make that fact brutally obvious, then you will be going absolutely no where.

as an expert yourself, why dont you decrypt the sdk and stop calling others noobs because everyone starts as a so called noob

K pointing in the right direction...

1- you can't use the sdk to decrypt retail selfs
2- you can however sign selfs with it, but those are fake signed selfs which don't work on retail machines.
3- to sign those you need to have the keys
4- the keys aren't obviously easy to get otherwise everyone would have.
5- dump the 0x40 of the XDR and bam keys.

just did that, did i make it better? i don't think so, i am sorry but what i said on the first post is the truth, i commend the guy for trying, but if he wants to help, do something that actually makes sense sense...

Also OP don't stay all upset cause i said that won't work, go and do something else, try other routes... but a question did you take a bit of your time to read the www.ps3devwiki.com, you might want to do that first...

After seeing the patched eboots pop up for several new games, signed edats (which work when transferred to 4.0 consoles) and signed iso bin files.. RAM dump was my only remaining conclusion for how that was done by some clever guy (or girl, thank you Elder Rasputin) called Timoshenko

Lets not forget how Hotz got into the ps3 in the first place (and then discovered lots more fail.. but that's history.)
