He did say he's not fussed about if it's for the playstation . I'd start with a .net language any of them you connect to the you can pick others up easy , in a way the mostly all similar with same commands , same way to use an integer , same operators , same way to write an if statement or for or while loop , with slight differences . Python has a very very simple syntax should maybe pick a .net and python to start

When I start learning about programming I looked into visual basic, and instead learned VB.NET without really knowing until I was already somewhat conformable in that language.
When I started looking into C++ I mostly used this site for guidance: http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/ I would say I know enough to start programming in C++ but I am still uncomfortable with it and so have strayed from using it as a main language. But I understand it's usefulness and will soon pick it up and use it on a regular basis. Also because I would like to learn to create GUIs. I was given a learning session on IRC on ppc asm and I have to say it was a headache lol. CrashSerious, RichDevX and SuspectZero plus others have been helping me gain some knowledge on ppc asm and a great help but I can say I only got as far as translating what each line of code into comments of what they do but haven't been able to move onto the next step which is to convert to C language. As I have not learn C I was unable to convert the comments into something in C as I had no clue even where to start, and so I took a break to look up C and will eventually get back to that asm lesson .Right now though I'm still programming/learning to program in VB.NET on a regular basis. Played with visual C++(NET) and I can say moving to that won't be too hard or even not at all if you are going from VB.NET. So many languages so little time .

Not really, http://www.mono-project.com/Main_Page...
Also, the point of my post was not really platform specific as much as it was more about how it is much easier to start with C#, and then forking out into learning C or VB than it is starting with VB and going to C or vice versa. Also, you will learn 3 languages this way in the time you could learn 1 or 2. ************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* All these posts about learning languages to hack the ps3... I don't even know what to say about them really. I'm not trying to be an ass, but all this has been discussed before in previous threads, and I'll say it again. If you are just taking an interest in reverse engineering, programming, etc. then you should not have this interest solely because you want to hack the PS3 even more than it already has been. By the time you learn enough to be efficient at what you're doing, PS3 will be obsolete, and you would be wasting your time. Remember, there are quite a few talented coders working on the PS3, if you think you will get any further than they already have (before they do), then you obviously don't know what you are getting into, and should maybe go read some articles, sample code, etc.. about programming online ![]() This was not directed toward the OP, it is more-so directed at those telling the OP to learn assembly, C, etc if working on PS3 development is the goal at hand. Have you seen the new app apple launched called ITunes U.. It's basically a database of free education provided many different schools around the world. I was having a look through them today and seen a course on multi core processing.. This might be worth a look for anybody who's into electronic eng or reverse eng.. Theirs also loads of other courses on algrorythems and all sorts of maths.. Looks good
