I have a 500GB Seagate drive, my values show as 1058, 1021. I edited my .CFG file as follows;
0x1058:0x1021:1
and uploaded it into the appropriate multiman folder using a FAT32 flash drive. Rebooting multiman and loading the NTFS driver, multiman ceases to function and I have to quit using the PS button to get to the XMB.

Is this drive simply not compatible? Is there anything else I can try? Is there anything else I can try before I gut the drive and try a different enclosure (really didn't want to have to do that). Is there another file manager that has better compatibility for different drives that I can use to copy large games to my internal?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

FIXED! Something very interesting to note that all tutorials seem to leave out. Using programs such as usbdeview, using the Explorer shell in Windows 7 gave me a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT pid and vid - an incorrect one! I even confirmed the drive letters being reported in these programs (usbdeview) were the ones matching my drive - even unplugging the external from my computer and plugging it back in made the drive disappear from the program, so I'm certain this was some kind of mistake.

I found the correct pid/hid by going through Disk Management (right click My Computer, Manage, Storage -> Disk Management, then right-clicking the Disk # through there, going to Properties.

Then the Details tab, and finally the Parent dropdown box. Perhaps these programs were falsely reporting the hardware/pid of the actual drive rather than the controller, but either way - I hope someone out there uses a search function and finds this to correct the issue. There are a number of people out there reporting editing their USB.CFG to not have worked - this may be why!

(if a mod could also append a [FIXED] to the thread title for purposes of search functionality, it would be appreciated!)

Which folder would that be? Even though it looks like a unix/linux system; I assume /etc/USB.CFG is not the right folder...

Step 6. Save the file and place it to the root of your FAT32 USB device. (Not on a NTFS partition!)

Step 7. Launch multiMAN, the USB.CFG file will be copied to the multiMAN folder.
Alternatively, you can copy the file manually using the FTP server or the File manager in this folder: /dev_hdd0/game/BLES80608/USRDIR/

The wheel is still taking forever( at least 30 mins before I gave up, ) I used Apple System Profiler to find my VendorID/ProdID and double checked them in dmesg in Linux.

Does the sequence of the USB ports connected to the PS3 count?
