Hey guys. I just bought a new 160gb ps3. First thing I did was look into hacking/JB'ing it, and it's a cech-3001a, Which I've read is 'Unhackable'.

Is this still true from last year? I'm still waiting on the 4.00 JB, But will it even be safe to run when it does come out ?

Nothing changed, it's still non- downgradable.

So all this will allow is NPDRM homebrew for 4.00?

so you on firmware 4.00?
if you are on 3.55 you can jailbreak... until 3.7 you can downgrade...

CECH-3000 series can't be downgraded, even not with a hardware flasher....

You can downgrade at 4.00 but not with his console.

No, as I remember FW3.66 came out when the CECH-3000 series arrived and downgrading is only possible to the FW the PS3 was delivered with. No way you can downgrade a CECH-3000 machine to FW 3.55....
