I would love to see a FF7 remake, but it would probably be turned into a linear experience taking away from the original as you mentioned, and wouldnt have the depth that the psx title had Kotaku Article here btw from 2010; http://kotaku.com/5497116/ffxiii-dir...al-fantasy-vii |

No remake is needed since pretty shiny graphics wouldn't add anything to the game so the question is - who would buy it? Nostalgic people wouldn't mind playing it as it is and those who never played the original wouldn't care about the remake. Remaking a game like that wouldn't pay off at all, not in our "call-of-duty-is-the-best-selling-game-ever-over-and-over-again" world anyway. You can't even expect the current FF fans to buy it because from what I read around, recent FFs have been "dumbed down" quite a bit, haven't they?
I played FF7 "back in the day" and I still have the original PS1 discs in my collection. I'd probably buy the remake if there ever was one just for the sake of having it and I'd probably never play it. Why? I'm 29 years old today and have no time to play a game like that anymore (since I have a lot more stuff to deal with than I did 15 years ago). @japsander If you ever find the time, give FF9 a go. It's a sweet game and it's still my favorite in the series. |

@Zara
yes the newer ff games are not so good but every one knows or hear about FFVII and i think many of the younger ones don´t want play it because of the grafic, they growed up with newer consoles and we growd up with an amiga :D and for this people a remake was an opinion and iam 29 years old too and i have much things to deal with like you but for this game i grant me a weekend just to play it all night long like 15 years ago :D

I don't think a remake would be a good thing. They already did plenty of spinoffs (games and movies). I'm a big ff7 fan, but i think they should let it be. I mean, a classic will always be a classic... and let's be honest, i would absolutely HATE a remake of ff7 with that ****ty ass combat mode of ff13 (the worst ff ever, imho).

i will do when i get chance
![]() games such as FF need my undivided attention. i almost wish i would break a leg so i could stay off work for a few weeks to play them. i wasnt dissing ALL game remakes (some game makers make better and better sequels) but i honestly dont think they can get back to that standard as long as they concentrate on pretty visuals alone. my wanting of a remake would solely be audio/visual. i wish no changes to story/system whatsoever. a classic will always be a classic but can "rarely" be beaten by a clone of itself. halo ce on the 360 looks awesome now compared to its original xbox classic version but still plays the same. why cant other developers do similar

Is it only just me not liking at all VII and think that it was one of the most overated games ever? I really feel that as recent the FF games are, they are more good too.(Exception the XVII obviously) Linearity is something that Square Enix addressed since XIII-2, I'm not annoyed by anything else at all, I really enjoyed XIII by the way. Remember that companies don't make games to please their fanboys, they make serious products, they could really care less what people-moan-about-a-VII-remake could think, It's very obvious that it won't happen, it's as possible as Resident Evil series returning to survival horror, which is also equaly possible to as recoloring Liberty Statue with Hello Kitty wallpapers...

A ff7 remake would be great, it probs would be an audio/visual remake but one lives in hope that if it ever did happen that it wouldn't destroy the pace and story of the original xoxo |

agreed lol, darn you well informed people, but yeah conker "REMAKE" would be awesome
. I hated the xbox version only because I don't have it .If I had to pick which Final Fantasy to remake I would ask for a Final Fantasy X remake but then again that is already coming, can't wait.
