A lot of websites throughout the globe have joined the protest against new US copyright legislation called SOPA, including Wikipedia, Reddit, Dexonline.ro, The Cheezburger Networks, and many others. Meanwhile, Chris Dodd, the MPAA’s chairman, claimed that such blackouts were just “an abuse of power” and too “dangerous and troubling”.

In his recent statement, the MPAA’s head called the blackouts a real blow against the efforts of the industry and the government to reach an agreement regarding new anti-piracy legislation. He pointed out that mere days after the government and chief sponsors of the bill responded to the concern of the opponents and consequently called for everyone to cooperate, a number of technology business interests were resorting to stunts which just punished their consumers or turned them into their corporate pawns, instead coming to the table to find solutions to a trouble, which everyone now seems to acknowledge is quite real and damaging.

As for the criticism that the new legislation was being exploited by a number of tech companies, there were some opinions online. For example, Rupert Murdoch announced on Twitter that there was government’s opposition to the bill, with Obama “[throwing] in his lot with Silicon Valley paymasters that threaten all software creators with piracy, plain thievery”. He also called Google a “piracy leader, which streams movies free, sells adverts around them”.

Google responded by calling Murdoch’s allegations nonsense and saying that the corporation believed, like a lot of other tech companies, that the best way to stop online piracy was through targeted legislation which would have required advertising networks and payment processors, like theirs, to cut off websites engaged in piracy and counterfeiting.

Chris Dodd, a strong supporter of both American anti-piracy bills (SOPA and PIPA), claimed that a so-called “blackout” became another gimmick, and quite a dangerous one, developed specifically to punish elected and administration officials working diligently to protect the US jobs from foreign criminals. He also added that it was a dangerous and troubling development when the platforms serving as gateways to data intentionally skew the facts in order to incite their visitor to further their corporate interests.

Technically, you are correct. I think.

When I signed it, it said that we need 14,000 signatures. And there was already 11,000+. BUT i think it was counting 14,000 signatures STILL NEEDED as well as the 11,000+ already counted.

So, I thought the same thing. When it was at 11,000+ I thought it only needed 3000 more signatures.

I would not be surprised if the MPAA/RIAA hired company's/ corporations to uploaded copyrighted material to megaupload through, anonymous proxys, by the masses ! So they could get a case on them/others alike. Just like when the MPAA hired MEDIADEFENDER ,to upload fake torrents on all torrent sites back in 2006/2007 ! If you downloaded there fake movie torrents. They logged your IP address then send a letter to your ISP for copyright infringement. The sad part was, the movies MPAA/Mediadefender uploaded were FAKE. People easily ENTRAPPED into downloading them at first ,the files had very high seeds.

The company MPAA hired were the ones seeding the torrent ! Then mediadefender got hacked & Mpaa's emails discussion's between mediadefender, were uploaded to the internet ,the truth became public! Now from the MPAA failure back in 2007, they got GW BUSH jr to sign the copyright bill 2008 ! Since the bill went into law ,MPAA have been planing there return since there failure with mediadefender !

THE MPAA IS REPEATING HISTORY ,AT THE END GW BUSH jr 8 year TERM. MPAA GOT THE COPYRIGHT BILL SIGNED BY GW BUSH jr ! NOW AT THE END OF OBAMA'S 4 year TERM ,MPAA ARE REPEATING HISTORY AGAIN !

The MPAA lost support against the people of the internet. So now they? have made a commercial ,to get the TV viewers/people to support them. People who do not use the internet, know nothing about the internet. I hate sneaky corrupt MF like this ! It is obvious that that MPAA sponsor's supports/Gives money to the MEDIA ,like FOX NEWS ! Also i bet OBAMA/Administration !

Congress Asked to Return Dirty MPAA Money


On Sunday we reported on a “we the people” petition asking the White House to investigate the MPAA’s alleged bribery practices.

Today the petition reached its goal of 25.000 votes, but that’s not the only pressure that Washington is facing over the issue.

Before the Obama Administration has a chance to respond to the petition, several citizen rights groups are gearing up to put pressure on Congress to return “Hollywood’s dirty money”.

“The MPAA is so brazen in its efforts to buy legislation with campaign cash that its leader, himself a former senator, sees nothing wrong with threatening legislators on national TV,” said Free Press Action Fund President Craig Aaron today.

“We think it’s time that Congress showed that its votes are no longer for sale. The first thing Congress must do is give back the MPAA’s tainted campaign cash or give it to charity. Congress must make it clear to the world that it won’t be bullied into supporting censorship.

Now that various congressmen reconsidered their positions on the controversial PIPA and SOPA bills, Free Press thinks they are ready for the next step.

“Last week’s unprecedented grassroots uprising, in which millions mobilized against the Stop Online Piracy Act and the PROTECT IP Act , clearly got Washington’s attention. And we’ve since seen dozens of legislators scrambling to show they were really against these bills all along. But the real test is whether they will put their money where their mouths are by returning Hollywood’s dirty money,” Aaron concludes.

It will be interesting to see how Congress responds to this call for refunds. To be continued.

The way i look at it .This is like a case of mobsters. When they get greedy, they get so big into corruption ,they eventually SLIP/MAKE a big mistake get sloppy = Spill the truth ,being by a leak or just being overly confident/stupid & get them selves noticed ,by believing they will be untouchable for LIFE !

Then people start to understand + see things being so obvious that can not be ignored. So it triggers the start of wildfire, through communication & the people of the free world ,we call the internet. I am really enjoying this resistance of these petitions, against these corrupt people/groups. The white house / congress ,is soon going to have to realize ->
