Before you start blaming me for the topic and that I didn't read other threads about downgrading I say:

Yes I see the PS3 Scene status banner on top of page.
Yes I read many threads before asking the question.
Yes I checked with version checker that my console is downgradable.
Yes I know that you can downgrade using "hardware flasher".
Yes it is my first post, and I greet you all, gentlemen.

I know that Kakaroto is working on the CFW 4.00 currently and his team is not planning to release backup game compatibility (or how you call it). My question is:

Can be FW software downgrader released (theoretically, if someone is working on it) before Kakaroto team release CFW 4.00? I mean, is it absolutely necessary to have CFW (or CFW files) to create downgrader?

Kakaroto is not working on a cfw , he is working on a 4.0 hen , cfw and hen are 2 diffent things , as for a software downgrade there wont be one . maybe be once a proper 4.0 cfw comes out but i dought that will be anytime soon . if u want to downgrade best is use a flasher its the only option there will be for a long time. as for making a software i would thing it would need a fully cfw so devs got nearly got full acess to the ps3
remember kakaroto is not making a cfw its a hen = homebrew enabler

Thank you for making this a bit more clear for me.

But in my opinion (I am a software eng, so I can have opinion here), if Kakaroto is making hen (which as I understand gives access to all PS3 services and/or hardware), it is completely different services, which should be accessed. I mean, that for being able to downgrade, isnt there enough to make system think that it requires "upgrade" to 3.55? There is no necessity of making full FirmWare for that, isn't it. Thats how I see it:

1. Kakaroto releases hen
2. Someone makes downgrader (in couple days)
3. Someone makes cfw (in couple weeks/months)
4. Backup manager for 4.00 cfw (in couple months/next year?)
5. Kakaroto is working on hen for 5.00

Hello all,

I am currently trying to downgrade a 60 gb ps3 and really don't know where to start. I tried dl the flowbuilder downgrades but kept getting the message connect storage media at the save destination. I am a bit lost and apologize for my ignorance. Some one please help with an "idiots guide" to downgrading the 60 gb ps3

What firmware you are currently having?
If it is 4.00 than there is only hardware downgrade kit called "hardware flasher".

It says the system software version is 3.7 does that help?

Thank u I'm going through it now. Step 1: NAND or NOR. It looks like I have NAND since its a 60 gb fat is there a way to change this?

i dought it be in that time frame but , all the hen is eg 4.0 ofw with the option installed packages eg homebrew pkg files and psn games nothink more nothink less . but who knows what happens after its out , just have to sit down and enjoy the ride . o yeah and the waiting lol and with the upgrading thing u said wouldnt work for many reason but for one is because on 4.00 all our signing keys are blocked so 4.0 wont accept it

So, is that Sony somehow changed the process of using signing keys, from the time when Geohot jailbreaked PS3 and we cannot do it again using the same technique?
