Mounting ps2 isos from hdd on CECHA-00 (60gb first jap batch ps3)
Ps2 elfs running on Jap 60GB PS3 FW 2.35 - YouTube
Hello it's been 3+ years i've made the above video. You may not noticed it since i was over ps3-news that time. I made a couple of more turorials on using mmc cards, emulating winxp on ydl, and running wolfenstein 3d in ydl. I'm not a software engineer, actually i'm studying mechanical engineering and i have exams 2morrow;p Though i know some electonics and software coding. Since the time i was making the above i had to drop out for various reasons, and even though i check ps3hax (which is obviously better now than ps3-news) very rarely i'm still behind. Last time i've checked i was on 3.55 kmeaw. I'm not a regular gamer. I only play some specific games i love (i.e mgs) Most of the people just pirate games, though i own what i love the most. Anyway i will not sit and discuss everything now, there are more serious problems like SOPA/PIPA/ACTA/IWF What i'm here to ask is a quick question about ps2 isos running internally from the hdd. I made a quick research and i know about cobra etc. Though i own a CECHA-00 model which has HW emulation. I have some games i want to backup and run internally. Has anyone made a virtual mounting app that allows this?(mounting as it is only what's needed since it can support the disks in hw mode already) Sorry i really got to go study now:P Cheers, Ken ps. LMAO speaking such bad english in the video at that time:D Last edited by TnF; 01-28-2012 at 09:24 AM. |

For what you want to do via internal HDD, Cobra is the only option right now.
Although as a Cobra owner I must say that the product is first class and I would highly recommend one but maybe someone will make an alternative in the future but for now there isn't.

Persian i don't even know if cobra will work in hardware mode which is 100% error-free (the first batches of ps3 had actual ps2 hardware in them, that's why they don't have any problems.) Either way now mounting an image will be dead easy as it's almost exactly as multiman and other managers mount virtually a game to the bd. I don't understand why anyone hasn't done this. I remember they booted ps2 isos externaly similar to how i was booting elfs. I believe no-one has done it so far since they are very few people(generally) who got CECHA/B/C/whatever Does cobra require special fw?
Jitsuin, who do you **** and what the hell are you saying? |

It's a lot harder than you think, Deank (multiMAN developer) even tried to mount PS2 iso's to work and couldn't do it so he left it. Yes Cobra has its own firmware and they've had PS2 support for 6 months now and no one has been able to emulate their work along with the fact that they can mount PS1 isos from HDD and even PSP games, the most progress in that respect has been booting PS1 iso's via multiMAN but only on CD-R's. Cobra are a very talented dev team and so far no one has been able to incorporate any of their features apart from PS1 iso's on CD-R and for now it looks to stay like that.

Lool;p it's an old video, the thread is over ps3-news but ps3hax will be pissed if i send you there. I have opened the ps3 and drive the motor of the bd-drive through a double switch from the bd-drive power plug. I've cut the case and mounted it internally behind. When i want to insert a disk i flip it up and put the disk, and when i want it to get out i press eject and flip the switch down. Middle point in the switch stops the motor. I could add another switch to make it switch between automatic and manual mode but i was too bored back then (actually for 1-2 weeks i remember messing up something then fixed it:D)

Definetly contact Deank and ask him about exactly why he gave up PS2 boot support in multiMAN and maybe you two could help each other out. Let me know what happens, good luck man.

haha...let me finish my last exam 2morrow and i'll check it...the reason maybe is that he actually managed to do and then made/work with cobra to gain money:D If that's not the case i think i'll have to employ my engineering skills:D
