I'm assuming it's already too late since you bought one, but have you tried what's in that news post that allows multiple firmwares, or go the lazy way like me and buy some of the newer games for my Xbox 360 instead, or go to a friend's with another PS3 who does all of the official stuff and none of the custom firmware stuff if you can't buy another PS3?

I have not tried the multiple firmware thing. I do own both a modded PS3 and a unmodded PS3 so I probably will not try it. I did just have my 360 modded which plays the newer games too.
