I use my ps3 for everything media wise, so it is on almost constantly. THe old ps3s have a problem with over heating. The biggest problem I have had is the blu ray drive failing. (4 of the 5) My 6th is a slim. Luckily I have had no problems with it.

And as i said before, Skyrim is better on the 360 or PC
I have kind of like the same situation as yours. Except, I bought my PS3 two years ago. I am always hearing "My PS3 broke, so I am buying another one". I have been TRYING to break my PS3 by overheating it, getting RSODs, and attempts of YLOD. NOT ONCE have I got any of those. I don't know what people do with their PS3, but this overheating issue is just another excuse for people's stupidity.

I mean seriously, do they play their PS3s in an oven or something?!

Next time buy them with warranty, normally there is 2 year warranty and the PS3 isn't 12 years old already

1 year warranty out the box. 90 day warranty on replacements.
Just my luck it would always wait to just after warranty to break.

Ow sorry, I am from Europe and we have better (??) consumer rights here:

According to eu law (and uk law since 2003)
http://europa.eu/

Article 5

Time limits

1. The seller shall be held liable under Article 3 where the lack of conformity becomes apparent within two years as from delivery of the goods. If, under national legislation, the rights laid down in Article 3(2) are subject to a limitation period, that period shall not expire within a period of two years from the time of delivery.

True, but trust me, they have work arounds for it as well. I've not had any problems with my PS3 but had some with other things due to overheating and optical drive failures.

The overheating probs were easy to 'persuade' them it was their error as it is a definitive design error, but the drive failures are usually a 50/50 toss of the coin as optical drives have an inherent and widely recognised limited life-span due to normal wear and tear so they try and use that as a get out clause lol.

All twats in my opinion though lol
