I am in the same boat as you. I know the instructions are on Gitbrew to install OtherOS++, but I'm not sure which ones to follow and in what order. I think I just follow the page, but then under "Partition the PS3 Drive" there is this line;

5. mkpart primary 2GB (the rest of the hard drive here.)

Which is a command you type, but don't know about what is inside the ().

Also, it looks like the only way to do this to install their own CFW so I think that means you can't run Multiman and backups anymore.

Let us know what you find out.

************* [ - Post Merged - ] *************
yes because when you set up the hdd. one of the lines of code you type is "print" don't forget that line cause it will tell you the rest of the hdd you need to enter in the (the rest of the hard drive here.) in that spot with out the () added.
just do the steps again in pettiboot, read the step good cause ther somewhere you have to type print to get that info you need

All commands with quote marks should be done without them

Start petitboot and exit to shell

Type "ls" + enter, ls is short for list (same as ms-dos "dir" command)
you can see the directories now

Type "cd tmp/petitboot/mnt" + enter and do the "ls" command again.
you can see what is inside the mnt directory now.
(cd is short for "change directory")

My usb device is "sdb1", so I have to do "cd sdb1" + enter and "ls" + enter to see what is inside my usb device.

There aren't much devices inside "mnt", you can try every device inside there. Just use the "cd" command for every device in there and use the "ls" command to check. Sometimes the usb device is called sdd1 or sde1 or sdf1. if you cd into a directory and want to go one step up, use "cd .." (note the space between cd and the dots) and try the next device until you see the contents of your usb stick/device

That's it, you have access to your usb device

@dusthi9 if you correct the vflash to the normal standard way and install Rebug OtherOS++ again you should do the recovery mode part again to create the ps3dd region.
Biggest problem is you followed an old guide with the vflash thing, once corrected to the standard way you can follow the guide again (after installing Rebug OtherOS++ and creating the ps3dd region start with step 4)

The commands used in petitboot are basic linux commands. A lot of things need to be done in the Terminal (like windows CMD screen) with Linux. Maybe look up the basic commands for Linux on the internet.

@robertuk , I know you are banned but here is the info about the mkpart part:
http://www.ps3hax.net/showpost.php?p...8&postcount=22

Showtime and MM are part of GameOS. You can use them normally on GameOS/Rebug and not Linux. Why wouldn't they work? You don't loose GameOS when you install Linux.

Edit: wait, I see what you try to say. You think you can only install the OtherOS++ CFW and loose showtime and MM because of the trophy error part. Like I said before: OtherOS++ CFW is only interesting for developers who want to run graf/glevand their tools. Tools that only should be used by devs who know what they are doing. I don't even touch them.

I will rewrite the gitbrew part:

1. Install Rebug OtherOS++
2. When installation is finished, reboot in Recovery Mode (not the Backup/Restore in XMB) and choose "Restore PS3 System"
3. Now your GameOS region should be 22 GB less than it was before. The 22 GB are now used for the creation of the ps3dd region

for the other steps follow the gitbrew guide.
