Can anyone confirm why you'd want to use this exactly?

It's a good dev tool.
Also if cex2dex conversion method ever gets released. People wont have to use external device to get into factory service mode.

No, I have to use a local ISP because no one else provides internet to this place.

If I remember correctly, you can play PS2 games on any PS3 via this service mode. Not backwards compatible models will not play all that many without issues of course.

It was a simple mistake, don't sweat it. Snooze is the only scene site with the source at the top instead of the bottom. If you do not know where to look, you can easily miss it. I know it took me a while before I realized they even had a link to the source, I just figured they were str8 up news steal-ers.

Not trying to be disrespectful here, but what is the point of people with 3.55 and below being able to downgrade? The people with 3.56+ are the ones that would have a reason to downgrade. Can this tool be regarded as a step forward towards figuring out how to downgrade 3.56+?

You're forgetting one option...
Hardware Flasher.
eg. E3 Flasher or Progskeet.

So all is not lost UNLESS....you have one of those PS3's that can't be downgraded or can't be dowgraded to 3.55.
