If I was a developer, I just wouldn't care about the negative surroundings and do my thing.

You say that, but perhaps if you were a dev, you might think differently, they take a lot of abuse and crap.

Take @Comgenie for example, he created what is undoubtedly the greatest file manager on the PS3, he gets harassed by people wanting his help to cheat at games like COD, then he gets hate from people because his app allowed people to change files, which allowed them to cheat.

Some developers even get death threats.

Well if you do develop something you need to realize that there will be always some people that hate what you do.
$ony could even hire some to make this scene suck.
The devs need to develop a thicker skin IMO and just develop instead of talking with the trolls.

Take the 'most of us' out of the equation, this is a project that @CrashSerious has been working hard on and for the most of us, it is great and use full.

If you want to do better, or think you could do better, learn to code, become a developer, until then, respect those that are working hard for our benefit.
