do you know any of the higher up's maby they have the key?
sounds like Vflash7 isn't there anymore. maybe try this to make sure:

Download boot_gameos.pkg, run it on gameos. Now recovery menu is available again in stead of Petitboot. Choose option 5 to format the drive.

boot_gameos.pkg: http://wiki.gitbrew.org/wikibrew/PS3:OtherOS%2B%2B

Now continu with installing rebug OtherOS++, do the recovery menu thing and continu with step 4 of the install guide

Edit: if you can enter recovery menu without using boot_gameos.pkg there is no need to run it. It is only needed if you can't access recovery menu...

All merged posts makes it difficult for me to follow the time line, in future please use the Edit button on your latest post

Ok, you do the recovery meny combo and the PS3 goes to petitboot. Like I said, run the boot_gameos.pkg on GameOS and you are able to go to recovery again and do the format.

For safety is is always advised to flash OFW3.55 first before flashing CFW 3.55.

restore_vflash.sh is a script to restore the old small vflash7. But if you get 97 Gb free there is no big Linux partition anymore and vflash7 is the old size already. So my best guess is just to continue and format the drive to be sure.

k i did the boot game os.pkg ran it, and it then reboot in recovery mode did #5
refomat. It seem to work one time only right after the boot game os.pkg
But when i turn it off and do the recovery again i am in petitboot again.
Should this be??????
Hope this helps trouble shooting!
Sorry for the extra post i will edit this one from now on!

k i will do that! yep my hdd is 97gb so cool the problem is fixed and no need for the restore vflash???
How come it still boots in petitboot in recovery mode??
Not that i have a problem with that, just covering my tracks!

So lets say i wanna put that ofw back on first in recovery mode, well in order to do that i will have to run the boot gameos.pkg again
to get in the recovery mode. This is how it seems to be working on my end as of now. If this is wrong tell me so it's done right.
Sorry this restore vflash crap screwed me up,just making sure i am back on track in the right order thats all!!!

Mmm, can't remember if boot_gameos only works once or not. As I remember it should work until you use boot_orheros.pkg again. Not really a problem I think, you need petitboot to boot linux later anyway...

did you install OFW first because with OFW it shouldn't boot into petitboot? Installing the FW's needs to be done in recover also btw, not from GameOS.

1. install OFW 3.55 using recovery menu
2. go to recovery and format the drive
3. install Rebug OOS++ and do the recovery menu/repair thing to create the ps3dd partition
4. continue with guide step 4

edit: and you can make new posts, buy if there is no new post after your latest post the system merges everything with every time a merge line in between, in that case please use the edit like you did now

Let me get this right!!
1.i will have to do the bootgameos.pkg first to even get to the recovery menu to update
2.install ofw 3.55
3.then shut down to recovery menu again and do#5 format
4.install rebug oos++
5.shut down to recovery menu again and do the restore ps3 system
6.continue with guide step 4

ps, will #6. conflict with "Mmm, can't remember if boot_gameos only works once or not. As I remember it should work until you use boot_orheros.pkg again. Not really a problem I think, you need petitboot to boot linux later anyway..."
Will it overwrite or copy over petitboot thats already there on my ps3?
pleaze keep me at "level 1 apprentice" no need for me to be above anyone..lol

Also will reboot.pkg after boot game os.pkg fix the problem with it only booting once in game os right afterwards, cause once you turn it off and back in recovery menu it boots back in petitboot from then on.As i only did the rebootgameos.pkg then recovery menu.
Do you know?? I haven't did the above steps yet waiting for reply and a good time to do so!

Just let me know if the recovery menu goes to petitboot after you install Rebug OOS++ (step 4/5) or if it goes to recovery

Don't boot gameos after installing Rebug OtherOS++ but boot directly in recovery
