I'm not sure I understand.

If I convert my PS3 to a debug unit and get higher firmware on it, this will allow running my existing backups through MultiMan along with playing new 3.6+ games I bought (not backups)?

If somebody could explain I'd be very grateful.

Well i thought thats the point (after this weekend), that we can use CEX as DEX units.

It's not impossible. Although THANK GOD that errors out on 4.00 DEX, or else there would be an arms race for converting it

You're thinking 3.55 and lower alienkid, to be possible on latter versions, you have to use a bunch of tricks which are a lot harder. Any fail by the person's part and when flashing the modified eEID (converting) you'll brick, possibly with no chance of recovering .

Yes CEX to DEX conversion still a dream for the PS3 scene, but it could be the only solution regarding the impossibility to get new JB/CFW 3.6+.
