PS3 Slim 120GB advice
Hi all,
I just bought a new ps3 slim / 120Gb, and the firmware is 3.21. What can you advise I should install to take advantage the most? I have saved a few games on an external HDD from a now deceased ps3, so it would be nice to continue with those too. Is there a chance to be able to install linux too? I know is much info out there but I would spend weeks to mull things over each option. Your opinion and links would help a lot. Thanks. |

Welcome to the Forums.
Nice find on the 3.21 OFW PS3. Follow this TUT by @itskamel : http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=26781 This will install Rebug MFW. Then you can visit Team Rebug's site to learn more about installing Linux here: http://rebug.me/create-otheros-enabled-rebug-fw/

Thanks for your quick response!
I thought there was a problem with the *SLIM* systems, regardless the level of fw. So that is all required for a slim system too? Asking just to float on safe zone. ![]() Thanks again. PS: any advice if I could do a backup on this stage, before any change, so I could return to original status? Last edited by galatasarai; 02-06-2012 at 06:51 PM. Reason: addition |

Thanks,
All went fine and dandy, but I cannot use multiman as I used to (virtually is unusable) and after installing Rogero when I start it I get some "no compatible payload" message and also I cannot load any game. Is there another approach since this 3.55.2 rebug? Maybe other ways instead of using a game manager?

You got Linux installed, sweet.
![]() I don't know which version of multiman you were using but, I would uninstall the it and Rogero and pick up from Step 3 on this TUT by @itskamel just to make sure you got everything installed (BDEMU2). You can always make your game a .pkg in the XMB. Search the forums on that, I really don't know how to do it myself.

I installed the latest 2.09.00 from downloads (latest version, the same with rogero)
Now I see there is an multiMAN ver 04.01.00 DEX UPD MOD (20120204).pkg I'll try to reinstall multiMAN as you have indicated, maybe my bdemu was not right... BTW, "uninstalling" the old stuff is through XMB's triangle then delete? |

I have bdemu2 (downloaded from http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=26677, part 4- it's BDEMU.rar). In part 4 of that tut, is said "Next go into multiMAN settings and go to bd-emulator and set it to hermes. (this will be for playing split games)". I cannot go in multiMAN settings, as the square shows "Group Titles by Genre", and if I still press it, it messes things up. FYI, I have installed REBUG 3.55.2 with rebug update pkg 0.6. I now have CEX/DEX in menu as opposed with my old system. This is why I mentioned previously about locating a multiMAN ver 04.01.00 DEX UPD MOD (20120204).pkg. Might be this advisable to install? I couldn't find any tut about installing multiman on a rebugged 3.55.2 system. All the backup games I have, I used them in previous system, no prob. The problem now is that the manager is not working, not the games. Thanks. |

So if I understand you, you have Rebug CFW3.55.2 installed. You installed the multiman pkg. file and the BDEMU2.pkg, but when you try to open multiman you get a blackscreen?
Make sure your blu ray drive is connected properly. If you don't have a blu ray drive connected with the logic board for that motherboard, any homebrew or PSN games will blackscreen. |
