So, I've updated my console and checked out new browser. Note to those of you, who thought about Chrome: you were pretty close. But it's more like Safari.

First thing: browser is completely remade. It's interface is perfectly the same, but the engine is AppleWebKit, not ****ty NetFront. User-agent: Mozilla/5.0 (PLAYSTATION 3 4.10) AppleWebKit/531.22.8 (KHTML, like Gecko).
Futuremark Peacekeeper finally runs! HTML5 capabilities: 1/7, result: 151 points(more or less Samsung Galaxy S), ACID3 result: 99/100. Normal desktop pages work, like GMail(previously only mobile version, desktop was bugged like hell and unusable on PS3) and Dropbox(Finally! You couldn't even login previously) - which meant that every AJAX page with dynamic content should work(Yes, your browser games will work now). Flash is still epic fail, sometimes it works faster, sometimes it works slower. Version is still 9.0.159.0, OS is recognized as either 32-bit Linux(Epic Fail...) or 64-bit Macintosh(Another Epic Fail...). Overally, buffer doesn't overflow so often, and this browser is... okay. Ugh, hard to say, but it's pretty much like Safari, nothing special but enough for most users. So, good way to go.

EDIT: Checked out few more things, browser games are working, but sometimes while moving elements with mouse entire screen turns blue until you press X once. Only one case until now, but worth noting.
EDIT2: WebGL not working, all apps based on Canvas and HTML5 wouldn't work I guess. This also means Three.js demos won't start either. And it was supposed to be good...

the title of this news is dumb. this update wouldn't be mandatory if it was pointless. there must be some bugfixes included.

i recall that the ps3 still can't be jailbroken without being downgraded (3.56+ firmwares). the devs are so tired finding a way to jailbreak recent firmwares that they moved to the vita ! xD

It was more of a joke. I didn't expect SONY to make the browser better. I took it more as a ploy to get folks interested in updating.

Just because it says 4.10? :P Sony have released 10 times more updates for the PS3 than Nintendo have for the Wii.
