Looking to jailbreak my ps3 (4.00 ofw)
I want to hack my 4.00 ps3 slim, and all i've come up with were a hundred differnt ways to do it, im really nervous about accidentely bricking my ps3 in the process with the downgrading process. but if i were to have a different hard drive in my ps3, could i attempt with little risk, seeing as i'd have the main hard drive if anything fails to work properly.
Basically i really don;t know where to start, i'm sorry i know many of you are probably sick of seeing people like me, but everyone has to start somewhere, any help is appreciated. |

the only way you can downgrade it is by useing the E3 flasher. But it still doesnt mean you are able to downgrade. depending on your model CECHXXXX. Post you model name here. And no you cant just change the hard drive to downgrade

First off what model is it? if its a 3000 model STOP and don't look back, look forward and maybe there will be a mod for it in the future. If its a lower model then find out what is the lowest firmware you can downgrade to. If the version turns out to be 3.55 or lower your good to go do plenty of research on a hardware flasher that you want to purchase before actually purchasing it. If at first you dont know...you research, you know what they say better safe then sorry. It is recommended to get a progskeet and for ease of use get the solderless version.

Your model number will be shown at the bottom at the backside of your PS3. example CECHXXX that will be your model number.

You say your PS3 is on firmware 4.10 and is one of those early releases when the PS3 came out. I'm not entirely sure that the PS3 can be downgraded on firmware 4.10, I may be wrong though, but in order to downgrade you would need a hardware flasher taht you may need to solder on to the motherboard of the system.

No, you will have to get a hardware flasher and downgrade via that. And please recheck the compatibility if its able to downgrade 4.10 firmware.
