Goodbye
I've decided to give up the PS3. I haven't given up on the scene, I just believe that it's sleeping, but I just despise consoles. I've decided to go with a gaming PC (attached in case anyone else wants to use that configuration) that I hope will last me a very long time.
I'll still stick around just because of my love for this site and the hardworking developers. I'll also still be getting another PS3, but I doubt I'll use it much. I've had a PS3 (CECHK01, later traded for a CECHA01) since January 2009, and I've been following the scene since. Every little *.tif exploit, every rumor, Paradox ISO Loader (now making TB EBOOTs) PSJailbreak, BD-Java, Linux distros and exploits, everything. To all the people who think the scene is dead, It took the PS3 4 years to be hacked. Every second of those 4 years, everyone said there was not a scene and that the PS3 was not hackable due to its high security. Come December 29, 2010 (skipping dongles here) the PS3's keys were discovered, opening us up to a world of homebrew. What I'm trying to say is, patience is key, and I'm tired of Sony screwing me over with new firmwares and console defects (the latter is mainly the RoHS though), therefore, I'm going to move to the best gaming console of all, the PC. tl;dr - I'm leaving for good and the scene is permanently dead. Good luck finding anything. Bye (This is a joke, read the whole post) EDIT: Now final. Specs attached. Last edited by iwasaperson; 02-12-2012 at 09:48 PM. |

You can change your name to "iwasamember"
The scene does not seem dead to me. Still new games playable on my cfw. |

Umm... one person?
![]() I read your entire post, and I too am in the process of putting a gaming PC together but I hope to get another PS3 sometime in the future. Preferably a fat one because to be honest they just look cooler. The PC isn't a console either, it's a platform.

If scene for you is about piracy, then I understand why you’d give up.

He never mentioned piracy in his post and even if all he cared about was pirating games then he'd own a TB... so I don't see where the "I understand why you'd give up." came from.

psl1ght works, the toolchain is not broken, so s/he can make the scene so alive s/he wants to.

Which one is that then? I've not seen anything new in over 2 months.

Lol, I think the last sentence was just being sarcastic at those who skip the whole post.
I agree. The scene (excluding simply games) is at a bit of a standstill but it will pick up again at some point, I'm sure. Maybe the scene needs to mature a little, that's why I've put my ps3 aside and gone to the Xbox for now.

This is how the psp was.... We were stuck on 5.50 cfw for a looooong time, didn't matter for a while since we had spoofers and a little app called PSNf*cker. That thing was capable of getting on the PSN even on 5.50. Then came along a little game called MGS Peace Walker. Required 6.20. As if it wasn't bad enough that Littlebigplanet required a game update that was required for continued PSN use on said game, those game updates were unrecognized by 5.50. We were told finding keys 6.00+ was impossible and to give it up, DarkAlex was gone, fanjita was gone. Hope seemed lost.....
Some time later I missed my psp, I litterally gave up on it when I got my ps3, and eventually I started playing it more. Then one day I saw there was 6.00+ cfw.... And I'm currently on 6.60cfw. So with my experience seeing a scene die and resurrect as it did with the psp, you have to wonder, can history repeat itself?
