Hello,

I want to make a surprise to my son for his birthday and i don't want to mess things.

I just installed a new HD in his FAT and i have reinstalled from scratch the firmware 3.55. (he had nothing to keep but game saves).


I want to jailbreak it.
I want to play on PSN
I want to play with recent games.
(yes i want it all )

What is the best thing to do now (10/02/2012) to achieve this (if it is possible - PSN will be first sacrifice) ???

I had a previous experience with Multiman so if i can do all that with Multiman that's cool.

Why i ask this question ?

There are hundreds of tutorials to install hacks, homebrew and more BUT i found a lot are outdated and more critical most of them explain you how to but not what good is it for.

Thanks to anyone that will help to refresh the quest to the perfect PS3 gamestation.

you cant play on PSN,read the banner on the front page befor you make a first post asking questions that are clearly stated in big red letters.
if you want to play recen games you have 2 options
1. upgrade to current firmware.
2. buy trueblue.

Ok for the PSN, tks to pointing and confirm this.

I have understood that to jailbreak, current firmware (4.10) is not an option. But may be i'm wrong ?

I have heard about spoofing, that doesn't work or there is limitation (spoof up to ..) ?

spoofing is just to prevent updates nothing more

newest games are not playable on 3.55 unless you have a true blue dongle
and even that doesn't play all games

there is no jailbreak above 3.55

Do i have to do something prior buying/using the true blue dongle ?
(so i can still start to do something)

In the meantime can i install a jailbreak to play with 3.55 compatible games no PSN) ?

if your on 4.1 FW you will need progskeet or the E3 flasher to downgrade.
if your already on 3.55,jst install kmeaw CFW.
there are lots of plyable PSN games out for you to play,look for DUPLEX,they are the group who releases them,there is the odd other group but cant remember them.
go to ps3crunch if you want to know what new games are plyable with the trueblue flash drive.

I have read about Rebug and kmeaw CFW.
Not sure with which one yet i will process but i have a day full of work ahead.

Can't believe you deleted his game saves =(

I'd take care of the kiddo learning about how to install games by himself into the ps3, else you'll have to do it each time he wants a new game.
Also, tell him he should never ever upgrade the firmware.

About Firmwares, just go with Kmeaw CFW. Everything runs on it.

hello, to be honest since its for your son you'd be best to install kmeaw and not rebug as rebug has more options thou its not a good thing to mess with if you dont know what your doing, kmeaw is noob friendly and just works without hassle. heres a good tut for kmeaw made by itskamel: http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=26677


there is no psn at all, also would be best to inform your son not to update at all and if it ever asks to tell you. might be best to even disconnect from the INTERNET and not to give him games that require higher fw then 3.55 as they ask you to update also. if you want to play newer games there is some times eboot/patches to make them work but other then that you will need to buy true blue dongle or jb king. heres a list of games that work and dont, if there is a fix it will tell you far right: http://www.pshomebrew.net/wiki/PS3_B...atibility_List

Well it is a little late, i have installed already Rebug and Multiman 4.00.
Right now my first 6 backup are one their way to hd0 through FTP.

My son is 21 year old (!??!) he shouldn't be that stupid to do an update BUT (i have entered a fony DNS IP) so he'll be connected to my movie server and not to the web.

Tks for the tips and to remind me this.


PS : Pratiko, forgive me for not being clear, i have delete everything BUT the game saves. I want to make him a nice surprise not to destroy his day !
