Use only ps3dd device for your Linux installation.

Shouldn't i be in the petitboot shell and type some commands to get to the ps3dd region to install red ribbon?

If you put the live cd in the drive and start petitboot you will see it listed (maybe you need to wait a few seconds before petitboot recognizes it) and you can start it. Because it runs from the CD it will take some time to start to the desktop. Once the live CD runs it has an option to install it to your internal HDD

The warning about not to mess with GameOS is about you don't touch other regions as ps3dd. If you start messing with Vflashg or other regions and GameOS gets damaged, GameOS will format the HDD killing all the work you just did. So stay away from those regions

My PS3 is a CECH-2004A btw

Ok i see. How do i know what region i am in before the linux list to aviod touching the other regions? Thanks,D

Like i said, insert the Red Ribbon CD and start petitboot. Petitboot will show the CD in the same list as where "boot GameOS" "set video mode" and "exit to shell" are.

Once Red Ribbon is booted from the Live CD there will be an icon on the desktop for installing to HDD. Just follow the steps from that installer

K,once loaded what option do i pick live-otheros /var/..... or the
live-otheros "failsafe": /var/....? I see 4 live options the other two are the asbestos.

first option (=default), asbestos contains patches we don't need. Failsave ehhh, says it all, only use if you get problems with default first option
