Why.. not just.. you know... maybe I'm stupid or something.. play them on your psp?
Because some people don't want to have 2 handhelds on them.

Exactly...some people are too narrow-minded as well to think of a factor called 'convenience'. "who cares about playing old systems"...erm, I do. If everyone had that retarded mindset I would have to hook up my PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP via tv-out to play all those systems (which I do regularly)...OR (now here's where things get crazy) I could just play them from one system.

Keeping things on-topic with regards to Sony's handhelds...left pocket is for my phone, right pocket is for my PSP/Vita. Now why the hell would I want to have my phone, my PSP and my Vita on me at the same time not fitting properly in my pocket looking like some idiotic, nerdy, video-game themed spy from another dimension called Games Bond? OR I could just have PSP games that you know, I actually paid for already working on a successor to the hardware that I have now invested in that actually plays those same games built-in anyway...ALREADY AVAILABLE TO ME!?!

But hey, maybe I'm crazy and we should all pay for the games we already paid for, agree with Sony or even better carry around a PSP with us as well.

Maybe I'm old but, why do you need to carry more than one game system around with you at a time? You can only play one game at a time? Not trying to create an argument, just being logical (i think?)

I get the whole idea that you'd like to play all your SONY stuff on one piece of SONY hardware but when you have to buy more stuff to play the stuff you already bought, isn't that more of a hassle? But another system is more space needed, more electronic junk that will get put to e-waste later on. Giving sony MORE of your money

I leave enlightened

You have to pay extra to play the PSP games on the Vita in Japan anyway.

The greed thing I get (sony's greed), but from a consumer standpoint having now realized this information, I just don't see it very logical myself to buy another piece of hardware and more software when you have sufficient one's already.

Not meant to offend anybody but it's GREED (Sony) and gullibility/stupidity (consumers).

We don't always need the newest, best, most expensive, brand new piece of technology. But there's always going to be a market for it for the people who think they need it

i think you guys are looking at this all wrong about sony being greedy.i d say its more of a legality thing if anything. i m gonna use rock band as an example here.
Rock Band could export songs from one game to the other. However u had to pay to export. The reason? When you bought the game you got a license to use w/e songs came with it on whichever version you bought.Harmonix (the games devs)realized later on to license songs for the 'rock band platform' when acquiring new songs rather than for an individual rock band game(and the export fee got cheaper).
same thing going on here. You bought ur psp game to use on a psp. so what if the vita can emulate a psp? The psp games werent licensed out to run emulated on a vita unless u purchase a new license(which is what the tranfer fee or w.e the hell they're calling it is) I know some of u are gonna be like what about the ps1 and ps2 emulation on ps3. and i dont know what to say that honestly ..other than notice they took ps2 emulation out of later ps3s? maybe sony cut a deal with devs for their ps1 games (reduced licensing for ps3 development or w/e)and couldnt come to a deal regarding ps2 games.

is it stupid to buy the same game twice? yes but ur buying a license each time for whatever systems u can end up playing it on.

the logic some of u r using is just plain silly. I have a 360 and ps3. should i have to buy the game twice to play it on either system? yes because games are licensed like that(unless the devs/publisher are really cool like valve( i <3 valve :D) and what they did with portal 2.buy ps3 ver get pc/mac ver too)The way u guys make this out i should be able to play codmw3 on xbox as well because i bought it for ps3.

Absolutely, totally agree with you.

It's just like DLC. DLC that genuinely adds value to a game months down the line after release, that's cool but DLC that is out the same day the game came out and people STILL buy it?? Another case of greed working in cooperation with morons.

I believe you're missing my point. i'll clarify it just a bit but I understand what you are trying to say.

The reasoning for what I said is just the fact that you already own the game. What's the point in buying another copy for another system if it's the same game? Just throw the old copy in your vita and play on there instead of spending double your money just to play the same game on a new system with a couple of new features (if there ARE any new features) and maybe some updated graphics.

This just seems like a waste of money to a person like myself. If I had an old system and the same game I'd play that instead of spending double the amount of money. It's a personal thing.

I understand what you are saying by buying a license for the software though; that makes sense. I've just got some strange ethics
