About Torne, unfortunalty i don t have the money for it but i was thinking about it with region_deny and such things.
I saw special pack ps3+torne and probably still on fews shops (probably not so well sell and can be possible good candidats for the not so impossible >3.55 news ps3 inside the box)
Never saw it as second hand products but if so, i ll consider the option to buy it for fews checks.

Thanks you for the X0 an X4 comments, but as i said it ll be pretty hard to have it from examples since they don t appear under this name category (but as hg).
For X0, it look like a sub category already prepare for the overwrite of move and 3d screeen)
X4 as mention when generated will active one unknown flag (with others flags as X0)

I suspect DEX console will have X2 or others similars category such as X0 and X4

Less trivial, the question about official tools or not...is the others sources can be also or even more affected (even own xmb files), edited or limited (without mentionning my lack of knowledge) but i understand your idea.

About Torne update Japanese page and the matter about technical aspect is about:
fix for fews cables channels (catv) and ps vita image (if i understand right your previous post they added flag, so can be like a news flag for psvita such psp remote play in MPEG4 AVC/AAC)

They also mention than this remote play when using it in hd can be only use as private network.

ps3 fw 4.00+, ps vita fw 1.50+.

Also for previous update, Torne probably have one related to the general switch for digital from analog in July 2011 (but still most of the channels works in analog tv) but can t really get how it will appear on flags

updated the wiki with this 2 new ATTRIBUTE flags
The one for vita is not confirmed so i added it with an interrogation mark, but meh... i bet its a new video mode like you said because severall reasons, the first one is the coincidence between firmwares releases dates and vita release, the second one is torne had only 2 flags in previous versions (2 PSP remote play modes)... and patch 3.52 adds another flag... so seems obvious that is related with vita, and probably is another video mode

The question is... what video formats are supported by vita that was not present in PSP ?... because the PS3 needs a "codec" for this new format (or maybe is the same codec but with different resolution because the vita screen is bigger ) ?

This patch added the "feature" to install files from the PS2 DVD to the PS3 HDD (seems to be used only by one or two of the last final fantasy games released in PS2)

Can be considered a "patch" and it works like a patch, in the same way it can be uninstalled like a patch.
Maybe there are the same flags (not used yet) for the other emulators ?

The interesting thing i see... we can replace emulator files creating this kind of patches ???
If this works, is an easy way to replace the emulator (maybe some day a modifyed emulator will be released like the ones cobra uses that are patched to load "raw" .iso's)

I was trying to remenber if in previous fw we have a boot logo (possible flag not use anymore )as remove boot logo when launching the game and if so, which fw remove it.

They cant remove old flags, because the SFO format needs to keep compatibility with the old programs or games
So if an old game used a "rare" flag, they cant "recicle" this flag and reuse it for another function, this game needs it
The only thing they can do is to add new more flags, and when the whole 32 flags of ATTRIBUTE are used they will change the "File_version" of the SFO (from 1.1 we are using to 1.2) and increase the size of ATTRIBUTE to 64 bits
Edit: or they will add ATTRIBUTE2 like PSvita

*I bet this will happen in few time because future peripherals

About this "hide boot logo" flag... do you think is the image with "sparks" that appeared between you press X ----> (logo) ----> and the game boots ?
If is this image... at this point is important to document it because there are some guys in a friend forum trying to modify this animation, even TizzyT (that has released "Playstation Color Logo Creator v2" some days ago) has commented that is interested to see if his program can include some functions to modify this animation

But for this to work first we need to make the logo appear (probably with this flag), because i think the image is in every game (the PS3LOGO.DAT inside PS3_GAME is a .PNG with the extension renamed)


After thinking in it... you said the flag "hides" the "boot logo" but actually the firmware hides it always
So... it can be the opposite ?
Lets imagine that the old firmwares by default displays the boot logo (and the flag disables it)
Later on... sony decided that the firmware by default hides the boot logo... and the flag does the opposite (activates it)
Its speculation, if you can give more info i can look better at it

Yes, the idea as you described at the end, "logo boot disable" (sorry for my English but it was what i though also). And it don t need to be remove or activate, just no use anymore since since newest fw ll do that ( if previously old fw showed we are lucky, otherwise it ll even more paint than simply downgrade to check this possible attribut)
I was trying to accros olds videos in youtube showing that logo before going to downgrade (but will wait for your idea)
