Can someone help me with my 2nd hdd

Ok I got a new hp computer. I took my 1tb hdd from my old computer and put it into the new one via sata. When it boots up it freezes at the win loading screen. When its disconnected it boots fine. whats wierd to me is that i can use the hdd through the usb to sata cable. Any thoughts on what could be going wrong? When I boot into safe mode it wont freeze labels it volume0 and under disk management it wont initalize.

Try a Bios reset, maybe some raid settings or something else makes it not recognize the HDD....

go to device manager and see if it show up there and hit scan for new hardware

if your hdd is encrypted it won't work on another pc until you format it

Does the bios recognize the HDD?

Are there settings like AHCI and something like "on-chip sata mode" or anything else you can change for HDD in the Bios?

Does it get power?

Yes it gets power and yes the bios recognize it the only setting i can change is port config something, but when i change it (enable/disable) it dont show up at all. I was really hoping not to have to format it. Like I said I can use it through a usb cable using computer powersupply. only thing is I have like less than 200gig free and I have another hdd 250gig that works fine when I put that one in and my internal is about 300 gig so maybe ill have to sacrifice some stuff to try reformatting. This was just a wierd thing I have never encountered before.
