Try once more... or twice....

also try to change monitor settings back to default, unplug it for 5-10 min.
It supports HDCP and I am sure of it, don't know why this problem is appearing

If your monitor doesn't do 1920x1080, it might be a little tricky like my 22" Acer that maxes at 1680x1050.

When I do the reset thing (with the monitor already hooked up) I get the same message asking if I want to use hdmi.
If I hit yes, it goes blank, I'm guessing because it's trying to use 1080p.
But after 30-35 seconds the ps3 gives up and defaults back to 480p, then I can go to the settings and enable 720p.

Yes that should work. If it does not then you may have a HDCP issue.

Maybe I can be a little more clear with exactly what I do:

1. Connect the ps3 to monitor with hdmi > dvi cable, ps3 is turned off / monitor is turned on
2. Turn on ps3 and continue to hold the power button until there is a second beep, then let go
3. See the message asking if you want to output video and sound using hdmi
4. Hit yes, screen goes black and I get a message saying "Input Not Supported"
5. 30-35 seconds pass, and the screen goes back to working, but at the low resolution seen at part 3
6. Then I can use the xmb to manually add 720p to the display options

Part 5 might take a little bit longer depending on how slow your monitor reacts, but it shouldn't take longer than a full minute. If it hasn't reverted back to 480p, thats really strange, since it obviously worked when you hit yes at part 4. While stuck at this point, you might try leaving the ps3 on and unplugging the monitor from the ps3. Then power cycling the monitor, and plugging it back in to the ps3. Because it should be atleast working at 480p at that point.

Another thing you might be able to pull off is setting it to 720 blindly, after about a minute of blank screen the xmb should be fully loaded, so here is the sequence of buttons I hit to set 720:
L L L L L L L D D D D D D D D D D X X X D X D X R
(this is with the TV category active in the xmb, if you know for sure the tv category is not active on yours, you can skip one of the L's)

Something else that might help is to find your exact model # on the monitor, then you might be able to get more info. Mine for example is Acer AL2216WBD (windows only reports AL2216W)

Okay so much to do again, I will try this , but what exactly do you mean by "TV category" and "power cycling the monitor"??

This is my monitor specs :http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-W20...specifications

I will be back to you soon after trying this method, thanks alot
