How to rip DVD & Blu-ray movies on PS3?

I’ve done some extensive search, but to no avail.
Searching the above title returns endless pages of ripping the DVD on your PC,
converting it to MP4, and then loading the video file onto PS3.
That’s not what I want to do.
I want to use PS3 to rip the DVD & Blu-ray movies.
I have Kmeaw 3.55, so I can run homebrew software.
I can also install Yellow Dog Linux.
Is it even possible to use PS3 to rip DVD & Blu-ray movies?
I want to be able to generate the ISO files.
Since I don’t have a Blu-ray player on my PC, PS3 is my only source of Blu-ray reader.

Confirmed. You need to enable Direct Disk Access Mode first (press triangle while in the Settings column and you'll see the option in the side menu). Then go to Video column, select the disk, press triangle, then Create ISO. Then wait a couple of hours (and come back here to say thanks ).

I initially wanted to install Linux via BootOS for this, but using MultiMan is definitely easier.

But doing it just on the ps3 doesnt work if the dvd is protected right??

I saw before you had to backup to ps3..ftp to computer..run file through anydvd to remove protection..then ftp back to ps3.

Has this changed??

I initially wanted to install Linux via BootOS for this, but using MultiMan is definitely easier.
I inserted the movie DVD, and pressed the triangle button from the settings column.
I chose to enable direct disc access, and it asked me to eject the disc and re-insert,
which I did and then pressed the X button to OK.
Now onto the Video column, chose the disk and pressed the triangle button.
I selected Copy and got this error message.
“This operation is not allowed.”

@Arctic Inferno : I said "Create ISO", not "Copy".

@kipabc123 : no, you don't need the Cobra dongle for creating an ISO!

@r.storm85 : I think this hasn't changed. I created the ISO on an external HDD, then cat'ed the 4 GB files to a huge ISO file, then used DVDFab to create a MKV file. That works quite fast, because it's a remux operation (no h.264 encoding). Also included subtitles in the MKV. Then copied via ftp to the PS3 internal drive, and used Showtime to play back the MKV.

Playback works quite well, it occasionally hangs, but that's not too bad. Unfortunately, the subtitles aren't recognized. Any idea why? This kinda sucks.
