Well, if you only want to Downgrade, i think you should be fine, because there's no need to solder anything. You just have to make sure you have a good NOR backup, without errors

Im not getting any blue LED lights flashing when I try to update the flasher with the update.bin file.

From the video tutorials its meant to update quick, my blue lights arent flashing at all.

All correct switches are flicked ( first 2 down, remainder up)

Sata Turned on before PS3.

Micro SD seems as secure as its ever going to be in the SD holder on the Coverboard.

All lights on the coverboard are working (except blue ones)

Whats wrong?

If you look on the top of thread, this is for "E3 Flasher Downgrade on different PS3". Is this your first ps3, or is it the second one? I think you're supposed to flip the first switch up on "FLASH FUN" (The rest all down) mode and have a good copy of your NOR backup on the micro SD card, then hit start. Re-read the tutorial, maybe you're missing something

If you have no blue leds on your flasher lit up. Then you have the clip installed backwards.

Just use the samsung 2011.10.28 update.bin to update the flasher. Update the flasher once, and you can downgrade as many PS3s you want with it after.

My clip is installed the EXACT same way as Khalkedon and christechtv did in their videos for a FAT ps3 installation.

I used hard foam glued to the top of the board and taped the ribbon cable as was done in the christechtv FAT installation video.

My e3 flasher is second hand, it arrived yesterday, so my ps3 would count as the second ps3 the flasher will be used on.

Also can someone tell me what the red button under the eSATA cable socket on the TF coverboard does? In my attempt to wipe any traces of bios data of my sellers ps3 from the flasher, I held it down for several seconds after my ps3 booted to the XMB. I saw very VERY faint blue lights flash every few seconds but not to the lighting strength of all the other lights on the board.

Aside from my curiosity of the red button, the main issue I want to address in this post is the update.bin not updating the flasher, so I can progress to the backup of the NOR step.

P.S. My PS3 Details

So the flasher can be used again even if it was previously updated with other than this "samsung 2011.10.28 update.bin" file?

Guys I've just read the whole thread and it gives me a headache. There is conflicting feedback from other posts.

Is the TUT at the start of this thrad still working or just it need updating ?

Whats the score with this samsung update bin everyone is talking about ?

I have not bought a E3 flasher yet and wont do until it is 100% confirmed that it can be used over and over again, I know of at least 5 friends of mine who need their ps3's downgrading. We don't want to buy 5 x E3 flasher

Hi guys,

First of all thanks for the great tut. :D

Secondly it seams that multiupload is down and I would really appreciate if anyone could give other links for the files especially the 10.28 E3 update.

Last but not least .... eSATA station is not needed in any way to use the E3 Flasher.....
After installing the clip DO NOT CLOSE YOUR CONSOLE instead attach the HDD to its port, pass the clip above the HDD, connect the clip to the E3 Flasher and finally power the PS3 (The whole idea is that the E3 Flasher doesn't get its power from the HDD port but it gets it from the clip attached to the PS3 NOR i.e. the power goes from the PS3 NOR through the clip to the E3 Flasher).

@alex120 2, whenever I had no blue leds or faint, my flasher was installed incorrectly.

@viljo and @keano

You can use 1 e3 flasher to downgrade multiple ps3's with no soldering(unless you brick) and no need to patch your bios backup.
Here is a guide I wrote to downgrade to any OFW or CFW.

The normal e3 downgrade process is even on ps3devwiki and e3-tech.net E3 FLASHER LIMITED downgrade flow(8 languages):download
