Agree with that, Android v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is already on the Samsung Nexus phone. Tabs with lower FW will lower in price in short time I think

i have an elocity a7, runs great. my favorite feature is usb port. I can download torrents pics and other stuff and send them straight to a flash drive for watching. I can stand the Ipad/ipod filesystem and having to SSH everything

@japsander how is the internal memory set out on the transformer, there is normally a little system partition and then a larger one ???

yeah, the same applies really. the majority is given to /sdcard partition (not actual sd card tho )

i cant remember the exact partition sizes but apps store all their data to sdcard so if you install a custom rom, you just need to install the app again and all its supporting files will be found safe and sound on the sdcard partition

its not just android lol

even ipads/iphones have seperate root and data partitions. they however dont openly show it in the device

yup, my iPhone 3GS has a 768(or so) MB system/main/root partition, and 16GB(minus 768MB or so data partition)... So they use it actively as well, albeit it is hidden.

Only problem I could imagine you could have with a Android tablet vs an IOS tablet is that... Apple made the designdecision of giving the GUI thread first priority. Meaning, the GUI almost never lags or don't respond, while apps or computations might as they get second priority(Dont get me wrong.. videos for instance are more likely to lag if they are computation heavy, as videorendering are considered computation - not GUI. However, if you decide to close the app or interact with it, it should be responsive almost always(unless something crashes)).
On Android, the GUI thread has same priority as the other threads which eans Android devices actually runs applications faster, but might be a bit more laggy at times in the user interface. You are more likely on Android to experience a random lag moment/smaller temporary freeze, when for instance browsing through applications, phone numbers, etc. on the device. It, however, does execute things faster granted the Android and IOS device has the same hardware. I dont know if this can be changed, Android is after a quite open system possible to temper with. You surely cannot change it on iPad, as it isnt really possible to temper with it(And I doubt a jailbreak would open up for a possibility to change it). That is one more thing to consider, the openness of the Android system, where you can decide to a bigger degree what you wanna do with your device, and what your applications shall be capable of doing(apps can do more on Android than on IOS. IOS does not allow access to for instance, addressbook, sms(which annoys me.. I need a program that can send a sms repetively to the same number each day at the same time), etc). On IOS, however, as a result of this, you are more safe from harmful apps, due to their limits in touching what could be considered more core parts, and due to Apple being very surveillant on the Appstore.

Finally, two last things you should consider:
Would you need/do you wanna use/could you imagine yourself using widgets(look it up if you don't know what it is) for instance and similar elements, which are something exclusively supported on Android?
And finally:
A plus to Apple here in the end to balance a bit on the fact that Android has widgets, gadgets and lockscreen stuff, is that Apple has a quite long support time on their products. You can most likely expect the new iPad will be receiving updates for many years to come. So can you imagine with an Android tablet, but most likely not for as long time, atleast not official updates(there is always the fan updates and fan roms.. I loved Xda-developers for all the unofficial roms, they gave us for the HTC Diamond phone back then). The problem with Android as far as I know when it comes to updates is: Yes, google develops all the Android updates, just as Apple do for IOS, but.. google do not develop the devices like Apple do. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the Android tabletproducers, to fit the updates and roll them our to their devices. Now, if you pick Samsung, Asus, or another big developer this is not as big a problem, as they seem good to provide support. The problem is mostly, if you take an unbranded and/or cheaply developed Chinese tablet(Or HTC.. **** HTC after leaving my phone behind so fast. **** 'em, regardless of whether they have changed). Of course, if Asus for instance meets hard times or decides to develop 12 tablets in the next year, they could still be likely to faster quit support on older tablet..
