It's really easy. A new CFW WILL appear only if the lv0 keys are found. That is, the keys contained in the bootloader that decrypt the lv0.

Because of the way sony changed the PS3 firmware schema (boot order) it is IMPOSSIBLE to have a CFW unless we find a way of modifying the lv0 and reencrypt it. So, in fact, we would need the key to decrypt it and the key to encrypt it.

If you all really want a CFW that hard, start reading documentation about the Cell and find out a way of dumping the unencrypted bootloader. That's the main goal of the PS3 scene. And if this happens, then it is game over for Sony (until a new revision of consoles of couse).

But for now, I don't see anyone working on that. So, in short, there will be no CFW unless somebody figures out how to dump the decrypted bootloader.

probobly not anytime soon. maybe in a few months... and even then It WONT have psn access and it will prob still be 3.55 but with more stuff . maybe something better than psn can be inplemented like cobra usbs functions

maybe there is but anomouosly , but if they do find it , they better make sure there tracks are covered up when they releseit because sony will like look for them ,as far as i know this would blow the ps3 wide open

maybe devs have already have eg tb maybe they have found that key, thats how they are decypting the eboots

It would take a lot of time and effort.
Devs capable of doing this don't what to go through the frustration it would take just to make a bunch of gimme gimme forum goers happy.

I really don't think that's the case. Maybe there are some devs working on this *out there*. But If that's the case, I didn't hear a thing about it. So, if somebody is working on this, probably he is hiding from Sony. But you never know for sure. Maybe there's no one working on this.

The thing is, it is a reaaaally hard task to accomplish. I even can't imagine on how to do that. This task would precise thousands of hours of reverse engineering and trial and error. Maybe even a couple of PS3!!!

So, it takes a lot of time, knowledge and even money (maybe)!!! How will be willing to do all that in exchange for nothing?
