I long ago downgraded my slim ps3 with E3 flasher from OFW 3.73 to the first released E3 Flasher CFW that was available at their website when this thing first came out. Now I was interested on changing over to another CFW but always read from E3 flasher site that changing to any other CFW will cause your console to brick. I wanted to switch the CFW to the Rogero_CFW_V3_KmeawLV2_LV1Patches_4.11spoof_PrivacyPatch_NoBD.pup . How would I go about doing that, do I have to go through the whole downgrade/jailbreak dongle process again or do I simply just update via usb flash drive from what I'm at now to the Rogero CFW V3?

Damn, and I was real interested in doing the dual-boot thing. Thanks for the link alienkid. Going to have to think about this one, cause that dual-boot is becoming real tempting especially since a lot of these newer 3D bluray movies just won't play on my CFW right now.

Have another question, I bought a cobra USB long ago when I did this simply for its factory mode function but the cobra USB CFW + dongle itself has a lot of great functions and features but can't use them obviously with this current CFW.

How can I switch to the current cobra USB CFW from where I'm at now. Do I have to update back to OFW 3.73 and then re do this whole downgrade process? Simply want to know where do I start if I'm already downgraded? Most tutorials I read are for first time flashing from OFW to CFW.

Nope.
If you do this, the PS3 will not be able to boot from the 4.xx NOR since the syscon will be 3.55. That's why you don't do it if you want dual-boot

E3 tells you that you cannot use any CFW other than theirs but this is not true. You can use any CFW with lv1 syscon hash checks disabled.
Sadly, cobra does not have this and you cannot use it with a dual-boot setup

Screwed again. Eh, I might as well just do a dual boot with OFW 4.0+ for my newer 3D bluray movies, certain games and PSN content and then some 3.55 CFW like Rogero CFW V3 with out those lvl1 checks for my homebrew stuff. Sucks about the Cobra CFW though, basically all it will ever be is an expensive jailbreaker to me.

From what I can tell from reading the manual, I think their "Downgrade E3 CFW 3.55.pkg file" is a QA Flag package. Like the toggle.qa.pkg from my guide.

The only difference from my guide is it says to "Enter the debug setting, set system update debug option to ON"

I did it without changing that setting.
And if you read about what that setting is:

"Allows you to enable or disable system update debug, which lets you to downgrade with official Sony update manager. Also allows easy firmware switching by storing a PS3UPDAT.PUP (can be renamed) in /dev_hdd0/updater/01, then another in /dev_hdd0/updater/02 etc. Then go to "System Update" > "Update via Hard Disk" and select the update to install. "

I understand that to say you can downgrade from the XMB, if you have that setting enabled. And not from recovery menu.

I have not been able to download the "CFW_DOWNGRADE_FILES.rar" files from the link e3 site gives. It's in chinese and I tried to translate, and register to download, but it didn't work.

I see... I figured out the chinese link a long while ago, click on the expanding arrow of the button to the right of the VIP Red button and those to links are 2 different servers you can download the file from.
