can't we just sign the backup loader and it should load on all ps3's? Even 3.50 and 3.55?

This is huge. Anxiously waiting for a n00b-friendly program that lets us sign homebrew.

So even if they were made by sony themselves, they wouldnt run as some of the resources they use to work, dont exist in a non jailbroken PS3. Its not just a questioned of signed. Its a matter of what functions are available in GameOS. So either they are re-written to work on a nonJailbroken system and signed. Or a CFW is written that will enable those functions without the need to jailbreak. Like I said tho, Im talking out of my "exit only"

A couple things bug me about this news. For one, geohot goes in hiatus for several months and generally disappears. Then failoverflow put in alot of hard work in cracking sony's signature system and geohot rushes the metldr key out to try and steal some of their thunder. That alone is kind if sad and pathetic, but even worse he uses it as a way to try to convince Sony to give him a job. Essentially telling them if they don't want their next system to be hacked, to hire him. And if that indeed happens, the scene could very well wind up hating him even more than most do now. My view is if you're part of the scene, don't be a traitor, and even more, don't use the scene as a means to convince big brother to hire you to battle against the scene later. It's lame, and an even bigger epic fail than sony's.

general Plot,
i have a geohotz theory myself. he was working on the ps3 to re-enable linux, he posts a video showing he got it back. then he drops off the map nearly completely. then a few months later a known company drops outta the blue on the ps3 a jailbreak usb dongle that opened up the sky. it don't take a rocket scientist to figure out geohotz found something worth some money when he was tinkering around and after the flood of people to his blog he knew he could make some money with it, he just needed to now find a publisher who would invest in his findings. enter ps jailbreak. the amount of time between when he disappeared to the release of the jailbreak is about consistent with making a prototype, selling the idea, testing it, mass market production of it and releasing it for a quick but short window of profit. and its only now he steps outta the shadows and releases a few things, now that he knows all the money to be made window is gone. this also proves he never stopped tinkering with the ps3. he only didn't let people know what he was doing. |
