This doesnt work....tried different firmwares....different firmwares and different firmwares......2.7......3.41.....3.55....try to run it and it just sits there with the green light on and black screen....

wierd only the dex (debug) version works for me. goes in to service mode
got two beebs with the cex version (retail). and then nothing

is that normal since i have retail on kmeaw 3.55

I know I've said it elsewhere, but I'll say it hear as well. "kmeaw" firmware will not work for ANYTHING new we create. There aren't the proper patches in the firmware. It's is just TOO OLD.

Really, there have been numerous developments that have come out since that firmware was released, It's not being developed further, and all the same patches are in the latest firmwares.

In short, get PS3MFW Builder, check all the patches LV1/LV2, check to remove any items you no longer want on the XMB, and build your own to install.

It's time to move on folks.

@aardmark , it looks like you are trying OFW. I seriously doubt that though since it clearly said it would not work with OFW and needed LV1/LV2 patches.

Hi, sorry to dig out the thread and barge out without any proper introduction but i need some help.

I bought an E3 flasher, everything went fine until i came across the "Connect the controller....and then press the PS button". And since i dont own any downgrade dongle i tried to use this tool.

1.Formatted and usb flash to FAT32.
2.Copied the FactoryServiceMode.pkg to the root.
3.Plugged the usb to the PS3's right port (after switching the console off) and did the power on + eject combination.

Did it many times and i still get the same sreen ("Connect the controller...") again and again as if my usb isn't recognized even if the latter has the light on.

Please help me because i really don't know what to do and i really don't want to resort to buying a dongle since it will take ages and lots of money for anything outside the country i live to come. (Had litteraly to go to another country to get the E3 since i waited nearly a year for the first one i commanded and in the end it got stolen...)

u need a downgrade dongle . this file is only for people who are on cfw and they install it like you would do with a hombrew app , as u not on cfw u cant use it.
