not true i can swap any pkg from the store with one's on my laptop and install it (example) i could download a demo from the store and replace it with a full PSN store game
ALSO does not matter about the size or the file im downloading and swapping
(example) i could download a 1MB game and replace it for a 7gig game from my laptop and successfully install it on to my ps3
it wont BOOT because of NPDRM or something like that

like carldenning said all i found was a NEW way to use CF3B5 proxy to install PKG on 4.11 OFW the only things that will install are signed PKG so if they are not signed they wont download onto my ps3
ALSO homebrew would not work because as far as i no you need to sign the PKG to install it then sign the EBOOT to boot the homebrew
if someone could figure out how to sign PKG all this would lead to is piracy of PSN content
you would need to sign both the EBOOT & PKG to play homebrew this way if we manage to sign PKG packages anytime soon i will write a tutorial how to do this but ATM its useless all you can install is sony approved sh*t

ALSO i think there was a app at onetime to do this it was called
(dpkg2rpkg)
DE-BUG PKG 2 RETAiL PKG
it was used to sign debug pkg as a official sony pkg (just what i want)

It's a simple quick hack for testing purposes only. I have only tested it on a few pkg files. It may have severe bugs. It may cause problems. You have been warned.

Normally I wouldn't release software in this state, but people keep requesting it, so take it for what it is.

Furthermore, there are a lot of things I don't know about the pkg file format, so there are many things I might have screwed up here.

With that said, feel fre to try it and modify it as you wish. I use it in 64-bit Ubuntu Linux, but it should compile on any system where ps3tools from fail0verflow compile.
