Hi guys, I've been really confused lately. I recently bought a used jailbroken PS3 slim from my friend, which come with a PSJailbreak dongle to play games (which seemed a clone dongle since my PC cannot recognize it, hence it cannot be updated for downgrade). I decided to upgrade it to the 3.55 kmeaw or 3.55.2 rebug cfw.

However, the 3.41 installed firmware is seemed a modified one, since EVERY firmware I tried ( 3.55.2 rebug & OFW ) are corrupted when installed from XMB, and cannot be detected when installed via recovery mode, though there is no mention of a 3.56 fw or something like that.

Quite similar like this thread (http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=17975). From what I read, It seemed that I have to downgrade my FW, then upgrade it to 3.55.

The problem is I can't enter the PS3 FSM. I have tried using:

• PS3JIG with both of PSP 3000 6.20 and PSP 2000 5.50 - It boots normally, just show that an unknown device is detected.
• CrashSerious's FactoryServiceMode Tool v0.2 - Cannot install the CEX/retail version, said it was corrupted (I'm sure it's not), while the Debug/DEX version install just fine, but beeped thrice and failed, outputting "ERROR: failed to read EPROM" in the factory.txt error log no matter how many times I run it.
• (Edited) QA Flag failed. Gitbrew's OtherOS++ 3.55 Special CFW cannot be installed, and rebug's QAflag only resulting in a black screen (tried three times).

My question is: is my FW is the infamous 3.41(3.56) spoof fw? Anyone have similar problem? How can I downgrade it? I prefer the dongle-less method to save money, but if I have to buy, which one is the cheapest WORKING downgrade dongle, and where can I get the ORIGINAL one?

Note: My PS3 minimum FW is 3.40, and I have the fw grabbed from this thread (http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=17845. PS: thanks for STRATEGIZER for the reupload )

Not sure on this, But it looks like CrashSerious's FactoryServiceMode Tool doesn't like/recognize the modded 3.41 FW. Only dongle I have used was a Minimus 32 AVR for JB & FSM, So I have no idea whats up with your JIG.

I would suggest that you get one of the AVR boards that has a PSGrade to match, They only cost like £5. Or wait for someone else to pop in & help because its been along time since I did anything with a PS3 (Rusty & forgot a load of ****).

Try THIS for QA..

Make sure to plug the PSP into the USB port furthest to the right (closest to BR drive) on the PS3.

Also, the CFW your PSP is running matters, here's a quote from Dash-Hacks:

"PS3Jig requires kernel access and has been tested on 5.50 GEN-D."

And BrandonW it's creator:

"What firmware version does my PSP need to be on for this to work?
Honestly, I don't know. This requires kernel mode, so as of this writing (and to the best of my knowledge), version 6.35 or lower. It runs on my PSP-1001 5.50 GEN-D. I am looking into getting it to run on others, but I only have one PSP to test with."

Gitbrew's OtherOS++ 3.55 Special CFW cannot be installed, and rebug's QAflag only resulting in a black screen (tried three times). What should I do? Thinking of using my friend's iPhone 3G, but the process is quite complicated.

you sure you using the fsm files on the psp and not the jailbreak files ?

Which one is the FSM and which one is the JB? Where can I get it?

Btw, do anyone know if the PSfreedom wiki is dead or just having a temporary down? I can't access it, and I need it for the iPhone downgrading method.

ok its not psfreedom stuff u want, that is the jailbreaking stuff which wont get u into service mode or was that ps groove

you need psgrade stuff as that is to downgrade and get into serice mode etc .

Thank you for your concern, but nvm the iPhone method. My friend's iPhone wasn't jailbroken with redsn0w or (i forgot the name), and it's no way in hell he would allow me to change it.

What should I do now?

You need a AVR board that can be flashed with one of the PSgrade files (The hex file that gets you into FSM). The PSgrade files are also in my thread, Just download & have a look which boards are supported & that your able to get.

I would say that the Minimus 16/32 AVR boards are one of the easiest/cheapest to find. Try http://www.modtraders.co.uk/avr-usb-kits/.

I used to use an iPod Video 5G to downgrade many iPod were also able to, I would stick with trying to get the PSP (5.50) to work. there also the chance in finding a older dongle with psGrade capabilities
