hi guys,
i need some help:
i've got my teensy++ today and soldered everything up.
norway output:
Code:
NORway.py v0.4 beta - Teensy++ 2.0 NOR flasher for PS3 (judges@eEcho.com)
(Orignal noralizer.py by Hector Martin "marcan" <hector
@marcan
soft.com>)

Pinging...
Set SB to tristate

NOR chip manufacturer: Spansion (0x01)
NOR chip type: S29GL128 (0x7e2101)

Checking sector protection...
No protected sectors found!

STATUS_TRIST_N: True
STATUS_RESET_N: True
STATUS_READY: True
STATUS_CE_N: False
STATUS_WE_N: True
STATUS_OE_N: True

Resetting NOR...
Ready.
my problem is, when i dump the nor of my ps3 (CECH-2004A), it gives me different dumps everytime i dump it. norpatch doesn't recognize the ros0/ros1:
Code:
norpatch.exe v3.72 - Verify/Patch PS3 NOR flash dumps [(c) judges@eEcho.com]

PRG0 version is 3.40
PRG1 version is 3.55
PKG0 version is unknown
PKG1 version is unknown
ROS0 version is unknown
ROS1 version is unknown
i've used awg 30 cables from ide cable which should work.
i don't get what i'm doing wrong.
my procedure to dump is:
1.) shut ps3 completely off(power cord removed)
2.) plug in teensy++ usb to laptop (win xp)
3.) start norway (at this point it doesn't recognize nor chip type or manufracturer)
4.) plug in power cord of ps3 and press on button(ps3 doesn't boot, instead it stays on without video output - everything up to here is right, right?)
5.) start norway and dump flash
6.) check it with norpatcher

when i open the dumps in the hexeditor i can see the IFI at offset 00000200, then some FFs and then the asecure_loader and everything readable at offset 00000420,
so i think the important stuff of my dumps aren't screwed up, right?

Edit: forgot to say that i've checked the soldered traces and they are all like they have to be soldered.

i appreciate every help i get^^

That's not good. If your dumps are different all the time, there's obviously something wrong. Apart from that, let me ask you this: what OFW version are you running? You're using norpatch v3.72, so that's the highest firmware version it can recognize. And it doesn't recognize any CFWs.

For me they do the job. But they're supposed to be more sensitive to EMI opposed to thicker wires. You might also wanna use a thicker GND wire, since that one holds all the current (or 2 or 3 awg30 wires parallel).

Routing of wires might also be an issue (EMI). Always have the console's shielding installed. Route the wires some place else. Best practice is routing the wires outside of the shielding.

Everything is correct so far. You might want to try to dump when the console is fully booted up. Turn off console (power cord removed). Teensy not connected. Boot up your console until it has completely started (XMB, no hdd activity). Connect Teensy. "norway.py comx". If chip is recognized, "norway.py comx dump test.bin".

You might also wanna try a different computer.

If your dumps are different everytime, you can assume that they're screwed up...

Keep me posted..

soo here is what i did:
-double checked the connections for wiring error->nothing found
-dumped my nor with several devices:
-laptop (win xp 32bit),
-laptop (ubuntu 10 32bit),
-pc (win7 64bit),
-mobile phone (maemo 5 armel)
->everytimes same result: wrong dump

i've read through this thread closely until i found the modification of CrackMyDay to let the teensy operate at 3.3v from ps3 instead of using the regulator, resulting in a working, recognizeable and same dump 10 times :D

now everything works like it should ^^
thanks to everyone that made the teensy a fully functional and cheap nor dumper.

and for everyone having issues with dumping their nor: try this mod for your teensy: http://www.ps3hax.net/showpost.php?p...&postcount=488
