Guide to UNHACKING Your PS3

The Purpose of This Guide:

People are often sold hacked consoles and don't know what to do with them. They might come to the realization that having a hacked system isn't their thing. It's one of those things that's not meant for everybody. There's nothing wrong with that, but before this guide was posted, I noticed there wasn't a place for these unfortunate individuals to turn. Thus, this thread was born.

Prerequisites:
  • PlayStation 3 Running Custom Firmware w/ Internet Access
  • USB Storage Device (At Least 1GB) (FAT32)
  • Computer w/ Internet Access
  • PSNinja V4

Rejuvenation:
1. Format the PS3 HDD
(If You Want to Backup Your SAVE DATA then NOW IS THE TIME TO DO IT!)
  • Full Format is SAFER but LONGER
  • Quick Format is FASTER but is NOT AS SAFE
So far there have been 0 recorded bans related to hacking so it is unlikely you will feel the negative effects of a Quick Format but the choice is yours.
2. Download and Install PSNinja V4
  • Download PSNinja V4 (Links are above)
  • Move the .PKG File to the Root of Your USB Storage Device
  • Plug Your USB Storage Device Into Your PS3 and Install the PSNinja V4 .PKG via *Install Package Files
3. Run PSNinja V4
  • Run PSNinja V4
  • Select Wipe History
  • Exit PSNinja V4 and DELETE IT
4. Install Official Sony Firmware
  • Update via System Update

Enjoy PSN

Awesome tutorial @Annelies . Just a thought, it's better to put a link to "how to get into recovery" for noobs. That will save you the headache of noobs asking .

It seems to become more inevitable...

Once you update, the only way back to 3.55FW is via a hardware flasher....Progskeet, E3 Flasher, Teensy++.

No offense @Annelies but this thread is a waste of space if i ever saw one....... I could sum this up in three steps...... install OFW 3.55, reformat your HDD, upgrade to latest OFW........... sorry but that is just common ****ing knowledge also the rest of your steps are wrong..... if you don't want to reformat...... you delete all **** then run ps3ninja not the other way around..... what you recommended is like washing your hands before you piss... not after
