e3 or progskeet? and best cfw? advice

hey everybody! I'm pretty new here so I was hoping I could get some advice from some oldfags before spending a lot of money! :P
I've been planning on buying the e3 flasher at the end of this week, I'm not really sure if it's better, but I have seen more videos and support than the progskeet has..
So could I get some feedback? I heard you can do more on the progskeet but i'm not exactly sure what that entitles.. anyone bought one and wish they got the other?

just a little information about what I'm running, i currently have the first version of the slim ever released and it is running OFW 4.10..

with that said, could somebody tell me what the best firmware is? or even the major differences between them

Hello and Welcome to the Forums!

I guess it depends on if you know how to solder or not. If so, I would choose the Progkeet over the E3 Flasher.

If you don't know how to solder then E3 Flasher has a solderless solution for you, as well as a dual-boot setup so you can have both OFW and CFW. I suggested E3 Flasher because you have a NOR chip and it's solderless.

See here: http://www.ps3hax.net/2012/02/exclus...1-downgrading/

As far as a CFW to choose from...it really depends on you and what you wanna do. Most are content with Rogero CFW after downgrading.

There is also ReBug CFW with debugging features & Kmeaw which is an entry-level but satisfactory CFW. As I've stated, most are content with Rogero CFW after downgrading. I suggest sticking with it until you've enlighten yourself more with the other options.

I've only done a very small amount of soldering, but could you tell me what makes the progskeet better? like more game compatibility perhaps? :3
just trying to weigh the options to see if it's worth the risk of trying to solder :P

i know this is probably a noob question but what would i need the OFW installed for? as i understand i wouldn't be able to play online right?

thank you very much for the reply, greatly appreciated :3

okay so one last question hopefully someone can answer for me.. with the dual boot, could i have perhaps have OFW 4.10 and the CFW 3.55? so then the new games that wont work on 3.55 i could still be able to play using the disc?

also the only reasons i could find that make the progskeet better are, one it isn't made directly for the ps3, allowing it to be useful if i ever decide to take it out.. it was released first, and it can rewrite the frimware in about 30seconds...

if these are the only major difference, i would prefer the solderless dual boot anyday!

All the above are correct.
