Split files only overwrite some files like PARAM.SFO + EBOOT.BIN + PNG. If the pkg is packed with same files it is ok to over wright .The split pkg contain only parts of a package inside .So when you install each part, the only content that gets over written is param + eboot.bin + pngs + folder/s depending on how it is split. In big split pkgs some contain same folders, but the just the files missing inside the part 1 will copy part 2 to the same folder but only fill missing files, from the pkg before it,so most don't overwrite much.

Split pkg are easy ,to be honest. When you combine the pkgs you only are combining the missing parts. only files that get overwrite is the ones i said cause it is ok they are the same .. There is nothing different that creating split folders on pc .

I think this is kinda what you were wondering ?

probably just to make it easier so you can install from an external FAT32 device.

ah ok, I thought you meant the psn disc games.

all the other releases I´ve seen are normally one pkg and then the update pkgs. they also normally make the fix as a seperate pkg.

but why not as one? wouldn't that ultimately make it the easiest? the way merging pkgs was explained, it sounds like if you build the pkgs yourself, it'd almost be easier to make one with the update merged in the pkg

Not sure about that ? maybe they split pkgs for smaller uploads/storage purposes. Allot of file hosts give free users a size limit when uploading ,some are as low as 200MB per part. Also it seem a little faster when uploading smaller files on some servers vs uploading 1 big file. Sometimes a big file will fail from wifi depending the person wifi strength that is uploading. Then you have to start all over & wait again ,so i know smaller is better for uping files.

I was hoping this could convert Prototype's EBOOT.BIN to a EBOOT.ELF, but it crashed every time. I figured another program had already done that, so maybe I can make its EBOOT.ELF into a EBOOT.BIN. It crashed every time again. The light bulb in my head has died again.

Who do you want to decrypt the Prototype's EBOOT.BIN TO EBOOT.ELF ? I can do it ,what you looking to do .Also, i can do those + npdrm update patch eboot/to/elf + convert it back .If you are looking to try to mod ?

Actually @PsDev tools are excellent, but can not decrypt npdrm , neither can ASToolPS3 V2.3 .At least i did not try wit my extra tools I thank both of these guys for releasing. I was hoping @PsDev could add something to his colorful 4.0+ gui tools. The tools he took package/building out for free users .I think that was his app before recent ones .The interface rocked !

I think very few know about certain things & i feel happy i am one of these people . I worked harder reading on ps3devwiki for restless hours to learn what i wanted to do. I searched everywhere for info, until i succeeded/improvised. I felt more happy than getting a hand out to be honest A little guidance from a dev would have been nice ,but i did it & felt even better !

The things i learned in the last few weeks ,makes me want to learn more about the ps3 ..I luv hacks ! I am addicted ! I need to go to (ATHA) AKA- Addicted/To/Hacks/Anonymous
