I'm wondering can my ps3 play ps2 game
I bought a second hand ps3 and it's model is 80 gigs CECHL12 NTSC J, and the version is 4.11 ofw
  , and also I did try put burned ps2 ffx and swapmagic DVD disk but nothing happen or can't read

Note that even if you had a backwards compatible PS3, Swap Magic got blocked after a FW, so in 4.11 it won't work either way.

It definately will not play ps2 games. It is like a cechL01 basically. Which was made way after the cechE01 a.k.a. The last made backwards compatible unit.

The closest you can get is the cobra dongle's weak ps2 support after downgrading using a flasher after support higher firmware flashing is available. your best bet is to sell that ps3 and buy a phat one on ebay or a similar site.

@OP the easiest way to know if your ps3 is PS2 BC is to check the usb ports. 4 usb ports = ps2 BC you can´t use burnt discs unless you open up your ps3 to do a disc swap with an original edit. I just read that your model # is confirmed as not being a ps2 BC ps3. so ya, your out of luck. I wouldn´t bother with Cobra because it´s compatibilty is very limited

So how abt I downgrade or jailbreak my ps3( not now), can ps2 run on it? I mean i usually think jb or downgrading is to play game without buying disk right Lol? or coustom it like psp
