Yes there is hope. But highly unlikely they never updated it. The P04 model came stock with lower than 3.55 firmware. The only ps3's that came out with 3.56 or above were the models of cech3001. Which is basically a couple models forward on the slims as they started with model cech2001

Well, the problem is the firmware version wont be printed on the box. You ll have to connect the ps3 to a tv to know the firmware version..

Regardless what FW it's on now, CECHP04 can be downgraded to 3.55.

Were you buying it under pretense it's at or under 3.55?

And if there is a way to downgrade, can you give me a link for the tutorial?
Should i resort to e3 flasher or progskeet for downgrading?

What I meant was, were you buying it only because it was at or under 3.55.

You have a NOR chip. See here according to you ps3 model # CECHP:
http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/SKU_Models

If you want a solderless method, go the E3 Flasher way.
Pros:
Solderless
Dualbooting (CFW and OFW)
Cons:
As with any of the hardware flashers, if you're not familiar with the procedure, there's a learning curve.

Here's a TUT:
http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php...hlight=flasher

If you know how to solder, go the Progskeet route. More important, do massive reading and researching before you go out and drop a dime so you know what you're getting into. You may decide to find someone to do it for you.

Hey i went through the links. But the problem is that i am from india and progskeet and e3 flasher are really expensive over here.
So is there any way to know the firmware by checking the model? And i cant find the cechp04 model in ps3 slim category in the website
