Hi guys,

first of all i'm new here and i think this site is the best ps3 community ive seen so far ^^

but im having a problem here, ive been running 3.55cfw for a while and decided to buy a jb2 dongle. so i firrst installed the cfw for the dongle, then updated the dongle. in system information it now says: "System software Version 3.55, true blue V2.5"

now my first test game is Mortal kombat. everytime i start the game it says i have to install the game update (update 1.05, it requires firmware 3.6) now when i try to boot the game it asks me if i want to update to firmware 3.6!

i thought true blue plays all games 3.6 and below so why is this not working? i did not do the update ofcourse, dont wanna have to downgrade!!!

I don't really know if its trueblue related, but I believe, if there is an update out for a game, it forces you to update the game before you play it...? I recall it did that with me, back when CFW3.55 could go on the net.
Tried just taking your PS3 of the net, or blocking the relevant update servers in your software/router firewall? I sadly don't know which IPs are relevant.

Edit: Oh.. And of course, delete your game data to delete your update that required a higher firmware..

sounds like you need the Mortal Kombat 3.55 fix. It should be a working link around here somewhere.

Do you know that you need to use modified files from paradox ?
The TB PARAM.SFO stops the updates.

i looked around at the updates for games (like gran turismo 5) and theyre really awesome. so i wonder if that means i can never update any games. ... (if true blue says it plays everything <3.6 then i thought i can use all updates as long as they stay below 3.6. ... has anyone ever tried that?

As long as the patch version is below 3.6, you dont need trueblue anyway o0? It should just play on 3.55CFW... So well, you can update games, but only to a patch that is below FW3.6.

There is an exception to the rule though, I believe some games has had some of their above 3.6FW patches patched for trueblue. Don't quote me for it though, as I am in the position I don't own one myself.

all <3.6 should play on 3.55cfw? that's new to me! with modified eboots i guess but on true blue i dont expect to need those

Then it sounds like you did not fix the eboot. It is a 3.56 game that is easily playable on 3.55 without True Blue. Title updates are optional and are not required to play the game if it is a working title. Not trying to be a dick, but it sounds like user error

Also Sony has put out updates that rrquire a higher FW version (I.E. Killzone 3). Title updates usually fix multiplayer components, or an extreme bug within single player. If the game has a major single player bug, chances are it is patched first. Updates are really not necessary since you are playing offline (unless you run into a SP crippling bug). True Blue does not give the function to accept all title updates. You have to use a patched eboot, and a title update usually mandates the use of that update's eboot therefor making your patched eboot non functional.
