Exclamation What's the real scoop on firmware 4.11?

Ello gents,
i'm new to the ps3hax scence, i fear i'm totally screwed as i've have already performed the over the net 4.11 firmware update.. i am basically stuck with it for are there any working legit hacks for this? i scene a ton of youtube video's that claim to show and provide bogus links for downloads, can anyone enlighten me on the subject a bit? Much appreciated , i have spent hours trying to figure this out with little success.. ultimately i'd really like to backup my 13+ collection of retail PURCHASED games to have a more seamless gaming expirence , thanks again

nope, nothing real for 3.56+ except for a hardware downgrade if you ever were on 3.55 or lower

All you see is in youtube is fake, all that requires a *survey* too. Don't bother searching, you will get more headaches.

Downgrade like japsander said, or stay on the *right* path = Legit.

you need to go to 3.55, 5.56 isnt worth it.

make sure your console was on 3.55 or below. if it was higher from new then no downgrade im afraid

click the ps3 scene status banner above for a peek at what to expect as far as downgrading goes

Hello mate

1st do you remember the firmware you where before updating to 4.11
2nd no software downgrade. You must buy a flasher like progskeet or E3 flasher and downgrade to 3.55 firmware. However you ps3 must have been at a state lower than 3.55 meaning if you bought it and it was stock at 3.56+ the downgrader will not help you as it cant downgrade below factory firmware.

Hope that helps you.

Just tried to update to the 4.11 to play some f1 online.... Broken my ps3

Really pissing me off how awful Sony have been.

All that happens now is it asks me to unplug to ps3 from the wall and then turn it back on, it tries to carry on the update. Any ideas ??

With every PS3 I have ever worked on, the biggest cause of a bootloop is a dead BD control board. Did your PS3 have BD issues before you updated it?

Loop, maybe you can check on youtube or follow this instructions:

Do the update manually and here is how you do it.

1. Find a usb drive that is larger than 168 MB and format that drive to FAT32.

2. A computer.

3. Download the newest firmware from the computer (2).

4. Go inside the usb drive and make a new folder which you call PS3, and under that you make another which you name UPDATE. Under that folder is where you keep the firmware (3).

5. Plug the usb drive into the ps3 and power it.

6. In the XMB go to Settings ---> System Update ---> Update via Storage Media.
