Red face just installed my e3 flasher! on CECH-2001A

i just wanted to make a post because i had to take apart my ps3 three times! i finally got the clip to stay on the nor chip using the nickel trick.. tape 2nickels on top of the clip and the frame around the motherboard will apply pressure to it stay on..
wanted to say it was a ****ty and annoying process, took a total of 8hours but i guess it was probably the same, if not more work than soldering so.. any one considering the progskeet, might be worth looking into...

i also wanted to make this post because my nor chip didn't look like anyone elses.. i evened watched tuts made specifically for the slim and none of them match what mine looks like..
i have the CECH-2001A version, very first slim made.. if anyones interested i'll make sure i post pictures of the clips orientation.. (it took me a couple tries just to figure that out...)

I also have the same model. Is your NOR chip also turned 90 degrees that makes a pain in the ass to figure out the E3 clip? I'm told that only the CECH-2004A is the only one that turns the NOR 90 deg. But maybe I got a hybrid

On a different problem I can't update the E3 Flasher. I get no blue lights during that operation. I emailed E3 Tech on that one but I'm sure they are going to say that the clip isn't installed correctly even if its just to update the E3 itself.

I have your same model slim, you have to chisel a portion of the hard drive's grill in order for your strip to fit nicely. I still don't recommend putting nickels on your clip, sticky tape and some good pressure should suffice. The process can be a pain thouygh, just be patient!!! I took my slim apart maybe ten times, at least you get a good idea of how things work. (Not to mention putting it back together in record times lol)

I did notice that there is a tiny chip right next to the NOR and I took a knife and cut a small spot for it to fit. I have been working on this for two days and I even cut a hole in the metal plate covering the NOR so I would have access. But even if I leave out the BD drive and apply pressure by hand to the clip it doesn't work. The flasher gets power but no data! Also the chip moves a little back and forth. It is FIRMLY down I know that for a fact but the pins are not lining up. E3 Tech must come out with a better clip because this thing is a piece of ****.

You're probably going to have to solder if you're not getting a proper backup.

Well no I did get one good backup operation (Three w/E3 program) before it stopped working. What I don't understand is how other people got a good connection with the clip without it shifting around.

pictures will be coming soon!! sorry there was a delay on the mailing so i haven't got the part i needed yet.. but like i said the nickel trick did it great for me!.. i guess soldering is an option too, or even tape but it just didn't seem secure with only tape on it..

I have the very same problem with the CECH2100A slim, I have lost counts the number of times I have put the E3 clip on the nor, I have chisel a small part of the chip so it avoids the transistor and it fits the board flat but still I get E3 flasher telling me its not fitted correctly.
So I'm looking forward to your pictures to see if it will help me.
